I did try it, but couldn't seem to get it to work.
It seems to have been removed from the download library now, so maybe Ged is making changes to it.

Hi Mike,
No, I've not taken it down! It is still there!
And, PLEASE, if you have trouble with any of my utilities, get in touch - I'm always here
In what way can't you get it to work?
It's important to read, and understand, the readme because how it works for you depends on whether you have MSTS files available, or not!
Cheers,
Ged

Hi Ged
I was looking under newest files, without remembering that I have this defaulting to MSTS only.
I did find the instructions in the read me rather confusing for my old slow brain, but I will have another try, and let you know how I get on.
Cheers

Hi Ged
Brilliant - I have now run this successfully for a couple of mini routes, and it works a treat.
I had been pointing the program at the individual routes' SHAPE folders, which did not contain any UKFS files!
I now see that these are in the GLOBAL-SHAPES folders of the relevant mini routes.
I have also now read and absorbed the "Important Information" in the read me, which also helped.
Many thanks for a great utility.

Hi Mike,
Thanks
I'm pleased you got it working! Mind you, you can only tell if it was successful, by running the route, which previously displayed shimmering tracks, in Open Rails again.
Cheers,
Ged

Hi Ged
Yes, I had already tried it out by running a couple of mini routes before I posted - hence the "brilliant".

Hi Ged,
I too have used this utility to great effect provided that, as ever, you follow the instructions. So far I've only used it on my main MSTS installation and a couple of mini-routes. The only observation is that on larger mini-routes it can take much longer than expected.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: UKFS-FIX v 2.0 For Shimmering Tracks
Hi having tried this utility I do not seem to be having much success and I am sure it is me.I am trying it in the Scottish Central Plus mini route where the tracks have always been a problem for me in OR.I click on the route then global then shapes the utility then starts and says it will take about four minutes.when finished it gives the number of files that have been modified and then i quit. But when I run the route the tracks are still shimmering, can someone help me please on what I am doing wrong? as I have read the readme files several times.Thanks.Peter.

Re: UKFS-FIX v 2.0 For Shimmering Tracks
Hi Peter,
Please read the instructions! You have missed the final stage out - don't worry, you haven't damaged anything
To avoid any problems, the program does NOT update the files in the GLOBAL\SHAPES folder. You have to do that yourself. If you have UKFS-Mod-Comp folder sitting in the UKTS_Fix installation folder, you must copy ALL the contents of this folder into the route's GLOBAL\SHAPES folder, allowing all overwrites. If you only have folder UKFS-Mod-UnComp in the UKFS-Fix folder, you must first compress the files in this folder using, probably, Route_Riter, to create your own folder containing the compressed files, then copy all the contents of this folder into the route's GLOBAL\SHAPES folder.
NOTE : As is recommended when changing anything in MSTS, before overwriting the data in GLOBAL\SHAPES, take a backup copy of the whole SHAPES folder
Cheers,
Ged

Re: UKFS-FIX v 2.0 For Shimmering Tracks
Hi Ged thanks, but I was hoping it was going to be easy for me to modify the files but reading what you have said it sounds too complicated for me in fact I would not know where to start, also I have never used Route Riter in fact I have not even got it installed. So I am reluctant to start altering things in case things go wrong, guess I will leave the routes which have shimmering tracks out of my OR installation for now which is a shame because they look excellent apart from the track problem. Thanks again.Peter.

Re: UKFS-FIX v 2.0 For Shimmering Tracks
Hi Peter,
Slow down, mate!!
You appear to have done most of the work - if you got the message indicating the number of files processed, then all you need do now is to :
1. Copy the whole SHAPES folder out of the GLOBAL folder to somewhere safe (just in case...)
2. Open the UKTS_Fix2 folder, then open the UKFS-Mod-Comp folder.
3. Highlight ALL the files in that folder, by pressing CTRL + A, then position the cursor over the highlighted area and right-click - Click on Copy..
4. Navigate to your SCP installation and then to the GLOBAL\SHAPES folder
5. Right-click on the SHAPES folder, then click Paste.
6. On this screen, left-click the box "Do this for the next xxx conflicts" (so that a tick appears) then left-click on "Copy and Replace".
Job Done!!
NOTE : For the SCP route, the number of files processed should be 1054, but there will be 1055 files to copy back into the SHAPES folder because it includes a file which prevents the program running more than once on a set of data.
Cheers,
Ged

Ged, it may be useful having a message summarising the copying to be done, in the final window, after compression has been done and just before exiting.slipperman12 wrote:Hi Peter,

Re: UKFS-FIX v 2.0 For Shimmering Tracks
Hi David,
It's not really possible to summarise it because it depends on whether the starting point is a compressed or uncompressed file - and who would read what's on-screen??!
I don't understand "just before exiting"! You press exit (QUIT) when the run has finished - if you don't, you really will be confused because the working folders are not deleted until <QUIT> is pressed!
Cheers,
Ged
I'm sure the readme covers that, but I'll have another look!it may be useful having a message summarising the copying to be done, in the final window, after compression has been done and just before exiting.

Ged, you exit when you click on quit. Hence "before exiting"?!
