London Kings Cross to Newcastle scenario

Post by acfreeman99 »

Hi All,

As I recently bought the Creative Rail York to Peterborough modern route I was knocking together a Class 91 scenario from Peterborough to York ( in between building work on South Lancs & North Cheshire ) and realised that I had published a couple of scenarios on the Workshop, in the dim and distant past, covering Kings Cross/Peterborough and York/Newcastle so I could use those to create a 3-part scenario.

The series of 3 scenarios covers a complete journey from London Kings Cross to Newcastle in an East Coast Class91 on July 1st, 2014. You will depart London Kings Cross at 07:00AM and arrive at Newcastle at 10:08AM calling at Peterborough, Newark, Doncaster, York, Darlington and Durham.

I have tried to ensure that static stock at Peterborough and York is duplicated across the scenarios and the same weather pattern has been used for all 3 scenarios for continuity....although the eagle eyed amongst you will see how the same weather pattern can appear slightly different on different routes.

To drive the complete series you will require the following routes and add-ons -

Creative Rail York to Peterborough
DTG East Coast Main Line DTG Settle to Carlisle
DPS East Coast Main Line - North East ( available from Steam Workshop )

DTG Class 91 DTG Class 321 DTG EWS Class 66 DTG Freightliner Class 66

The set of scenarios is available for download here - http://www.wotawallysbits.co.uk/a-freeman-scenarios

3 hours of driving if you choose to drive from Kings Cross to Newcastle in one session :D

More scenarios for the whole ECML are very welcome. It does feel a little unloved at the moment. Cheers mate.

As I believe that I have all the necessary "bits", I am going to d/l and see whether I can manage to operate the route[s]. I still have not managed to run all the payware routes that I have purchased - yes, I am a 72 year old "noob" but having read - and re-read - the information, I am hopeful. I will report back somewhen, don't know quite when - a hospitalised, same age, wife :( but I hope it will - eventually - work out for me. Regards.

Maurice.

To be fair, Tubemad recently uploaded a rush hour pack for the southern end of the ECML (I am biased but that is quality) and there is a lot out there for that end. But I do agree that past Peterborough is short on quality stuff

Hi Maurice,

I hope the scenarios run for you and you enjoy them - if you have the routes, but not all of the stock, then let me know and I will see if I can swap them out for stock that you have and we can figure out how I can send the revised scenarios to you, best wishes for you wife's speedy recovery.

Andy, many thanks for your very kind offer, I am grateful. It will be a wee while before I can attempt anything other than payware routes which I have driven successfully - time constraints, I am sure you can relate to this  . My wife is progressing well thanks and should be reverting to "normal" within a month. Best regards to you and thanks again for your offer of assistance should it be required. Cheers now.

Hi,
I have a problem with loading the first part of the scenario. It can't find MK4 East Coast Gray carriages. In the scenario file it says East Coast Grey.
Is it just a conflict in the spelling?
Thanks,
Michael

Lovely scenarios, Andy. Very nice, relaxing drive up the ECML with plenty to see.

Can I make a couple of suggestions, please? The second and third legs have some adverse signals. You've graded them as easy but they may qualify for medium, if I was to compare them to other similar runs. Also, when I was swapping the stock for the 91s to use the AP versions, I noticed that the driver consist has the nd Class 91 rather than the nd DVT. Just a little thing.

Thanks for putting them together.

Well, I may have done something correctly - or not  I did load the Part 1 scenario last evening and saw the same error message, but have no idea where/how to see the conflict/spelling error, nor how it may be corrected. Regards.

It will be the folder/file name of the coach in question, and RW Tools is the best way to resolve this issue---swap the mis-spelt coach out for the one you have.

EDIT: As the class 91 pack doesn't come with an East Coast livery, this is a reskin---there are probably many about so even if you have one installed it may not be the *right* one, though I'd suggest it's the first one in this list:

Thank you for taking the time to respond kind sir with the information concerning the reskin - all new stuff for me :( . I have downloaded RW Tools + latest patch and help file in anticipation of this answer. I have been looking on UTube and also here for an RW Tools video tutorial. I am confident that I will get there eventually, not today though as it's time for some "wife time". Tomorrow is another day though, so here's hoping. Thanks again and Regards.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed them.I will check the driver consist, to be honest I am never certain how to grade my scenarios...I tend to err on the side of caution for those who may choose to drive a scenario expecting it to be a real challenge and then find it a breeze :D
