D, A, W or S keys - no screen display

I have an activity where, when I press the D, A, W or S keys, the necessary action is performed but no display is shown on the screen. All other activities are OK. Has anyone any idea what is causing this?

Is it a specific loco?

I seem to recall something where a slight discrepancy between something in the .eng file and the cabview (I think) caused this issue.

I can't remember which item of stock I encountered this with though.

Yes, I have narrowed it down to something in the ,eng file but cannot figure out what.
