Steam is Down, Possibly under DDoS Attack
Steam seems to be down currently. The first news appearing speak of a possible DDoS attack against Steam by a group called Phantom Squad. If it is true and they don't stop attacking soon, it may take quite long for steam to be back online as there is virtually no simple solution to it (DDoS).

Re: Steam is Down, Possibly under DDoS Attack
It seems likely that is the case. There are technical remediations that can be applied but that takes time. They appear to be doing it for "fun" and "because they can".
If ever caught I would suggest a 1 way ticket to "The Bay" or a Super-Max facility in the USA and spend the next 20 years finding out what "fun" is. The RICO legislation in the USA is sufficient for this before the "economic terrorism" angle comes into it.
My idea of fun is an afternoon on train simulator or Civilisation V since I have leave from work. What the hell gives these idiots the right to this and affect other people's fun?

Well I decided to run something - the Steam client did not connect and I started in Offline mode.Easilyconfused wrote:My idea of fun is an afternoon on train simulator or Civilisation V since I have leave from work.
After that I just played the scenario as normal

Yes, TS works normally in Steam Offline mode.
I just lost the background I fixed yesterday - seems that now every start of the sim deletes the background.jpg file. Perhaps it could be due to the offline mode...?

The background image is configured by DTG via Internet. In offline mode there is no internet connection, therefore you do not see the background image.jstange wrote:I just lost the background I fixed yesterday - seems that now every start of the sim deletes the background.jpg file. So why is there no background image when online?Juanillo99 wrote:The background image is configured by DTG via Internet. Maybe because of some inexplicable misconfiguration, who knows.749006 wrote:So why is there no background image when online?Juanillo99 wrote:The background image is configured by DTG via Internet. Yeah it works again!
'Why is it that the railway station is so far away from the village?'
The local pauses for a while, then replies:
'They thought it would be a good idea to build it next to the railway line.....'
