Glorious Devon - 1960's v1.1 & 1958 v1.3

Post by chrisonline »

I gave up on this last year due to difficulty with missing assets and insufficient time to work on them, but I am reviving my interest now and am determined to get it right.

Having browsed old threads, I'm still none the wiser about the following questions:

1. Does GD 1958 supersede GD 1960? i.e. is it all of GD 1960's PLUS more? DP Simulations still has both routes up

2. In other words, can I just focus on GD 1958 and not bother with GD 1960's?

3. Do scenarios written for GD 1960's work on GD 1958?

Any help would be appreciated, before I delve deeper.

They are two separate iterations of the route, no idea about scenario compatibility, but I doubt it. 1958 has greater coverage and there were differences in real life track layouts between those two years that are reflected in the routes. They are both nice routes, but quite resource heavy.

Hi Chris

I have both routes. Trying to avoid to avoid some duplication, I've been trying to get the excellent scenarios supplied with/for the shorter 1960 version to work with the 1958 version that runs all the way to Plymouth but which has only a few scenarios. Unfortunately, some will work, some do so after tweaking markers and consists , etc, whilst others refuse to work at all. Not sure why as the trackwork between Exeter and Paignton seems the same for both routes.

OK, thanks for the responses.

But I'm going to rephrase my question . . .

Does the earlier GD 1960's v1.1 route have anything that the later GD 1958 v1.3 Route does not have?

If not, I am not seeing a need to keep both, other than to "rescue" the earlier scenarios from 1960's and try to convert them for use on 1958??

Or am I missing something?

GD58 is GD60 but extended to both Plymouth and Kingswear. It is a brilliant route and highly recommended but a bit resource heavy. I did run both routes for a while but now just run GD58 v1.3. Hope that helps. Have a great Christmas and enjoy

Thanks again, that clarifies in my mind that I will focus on GD 1958, and see if I can get get some of the 1960's scenarios working on it.

Thanks for the replies. Confusion over!

Chris you can copy the GD 1960 scenarios over to Exeter Plymouth 1958 and they run fine.
I had both loaded at one time but have now done a fresh reload and only have EP 1958 version 1.3 loaded.
After reading your post I though I would try copying the scenarios over and trying them.
I just copied the scenarios from my back-up and pasted them into the EP 1958 scenario directory.
Thanks for the idea AuscGWR

Yes indeed, I did that after my previous post, and found no real problems (a couple of very minor things, can't remember the detail now as Christmas & New Year has come between!, but nothing insurmountable). So I have no further interest in GD60 and just focus on GD58 "all-in".

I have a few signals missing on the approach to Exeter from the East (Bristol) side of the line and in the station itself. No other signals along the rest of the route are missing as far as I can see so far. All I have in the area are the posts in mid air without blades or lights. I do have single signals but not the multi type. The far end of Exeter station and from then on to Plymouth is fine as all signals show.
Are they a separate download/object that I have missed?
Any direction would be helpful but it does not spoil the route as I have every signal after Exeter, just the scenario I've made starts on the approach to the city from the first signal after the portal.
P.S. Not RWtools able minded.
Double P.S. P.S. I just realised that this is NOT the GD 1958 thread as I thought it was. Clicked on the wrong thread, sorry. Still, any advice? (on the signals I mean)

Deano the most common issues with signals are not having the signal and patches loaded or graphics settings
I sure you have checked of all the UKTS requirements but worth double checking
Just open the Rail Works Utility and compare the file names against your installed files and check all are present
The most common issue if all the files are installed is the graphic settings
I have and older computer so custom settings are required
MY machine is a CPU Brand: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 850 Processor running Windows 10 64 bit
I have upgraded the graphics cards and hard drive to a SSD drive and run my original hard drive for storage and back-up
GPU is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and runs fine but still have some dumps
Go to settings and graphics
