There was a glitch in the initial 4200/5205 installer but it's all sorted now.

The 4200/5205 and 7200 are available to buy now at Steam Sounds Supreme
http://victoryworksts.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... t-now.html

We look forward to hearing how you enjoy these beasts, and if you're driving in Advanced mode do read the manual - the regulator second valve could catch you out if you're not aware of it!

So I successfully installed v1.1 - wow, what an overcomplicated 2 step installation, if a simple zip was provided that we just copied over to the reilworks folder would certainly be much happier. But no big deal, it works OK (just the buttons during choosing the destination folder could not be seen in my case, but I guessed what they were).

Opened the manual - 40 pages. Mmmm...looks promising. Love manuals, the longer the better :)

Glad you have everything successfully installed and can now enjoy these terrific models.

What you must remember is that not everyone is at ease with moving files around in their computer, by providing an Installer the beginner through to the most experienced is able to install and enjoy the product.

Do have a good read of the Manual, it will enable you to get the most out of the 42XX and 72XX.

Re- installed after the update of the 4200 installer, fine now.

One question, should the Large injector be left fully open when the brake is set to running position on the F5 Hud, I found that the Large Injector can be left just cracked open only whilst the brake is set to release.
Can you explain it a bit more how it should be set, bit different to the other Victory loco's.

Hi Antony, I fully release the brakes and then set the large injector to "Running" (about 30%) so it just holds the brakes off without loosing steam. Hope that helps.

It says in the manual page 22 advanced that it has a mechanical ejector that keeps the pressure up when the speed is over 15mph, doesn't seem to happen here. Should the brake lever be kept on release rather than running.
I am setting it to running on the f5 hud after about 20mph and then moving the ejector back so it is just cracked , but does still loose vacuum.

Rule one, if you're driving in Advanced mode stop looking at the HUD and look at the controls in front of you in the cab, drive a locomotive not a game object

The 4200/5205/7200 only has a basic brake with just a large ejector. There is no such things as notches (Release, Apply, Running)... that's just the way that TS expresses itself.
So in Adv mode you have 2 controls for braking: the brake lever and the large ejector lever. Quite simply, the brake lever lets vacuum out of the system (and therefore applies the brakes). The large ejector creates vacuum and releases the brakes.

Other than when braking the brake lever will always be over to the right - you don't want to be letting any vacuum out of the system. You only move it to the left to let the vacuum out and put the brakes on.
The ejector lever is pulled down to create the vacuum and release the brakes. Now, due to leaks in the pipes some air will always be sneaking in to the system so once your brakes are released (25" of pressure on the gauge) you can close the ejector most of the way, just leaving it on a little to keep that pesky air from getting in. However, once you get above ~15mph you can close the ejector fully as a mechanical ejector attached to the wheel motion will take over and keep the air out so you don't have to waste steam powering the ejector.

Simples, as a meerkat once said :)

Just try and picture what the levers actually do and you'll be fine - the brake lever opens "holes" in the pipe and lets the vacuum out (applying the brakes). The ejector uses steam pressure to create the vacuum (releasing the brakes).

Sadly, I can only two scenarios. Seems that several of them need the GWR 14xx addon.

Also, one scenario at Falmouth says it needs BR4500Black, as well as some cars. Where is that addon from?

Otherwise, my FAVORITE steamer bar none! I have the GWR56xx, FEF-3, Consolidation, and this is fantastic. Beautiful job on the model and the sounds!

Got it now, I was making the mistake of moving the brake lever back to the upright position when moving over about 20mph.

Thanks

When you say the buttons could not be seen, could you sort me out a screen-grab of this so I can see what you mean? It shouldn't be that way.

They were hidden below the border of the window and the window could not be enlarged. I have scaling set to 125% in my win 7, this is what probably causes the issue. I can post a screenshot later today when I get to the PC.

You speak of the vacuum like it would be a real substance :-)

Isn't it more like you let the air in rather than vacuum out? ;-) ;-)

I couldn't find scenarios for the WSR Members Edition, which I do have installed for a long time already (v2.1 I believe).

Do I need to manually install them, or do I need a newer version of the route?

I didn't see a version of the route specified in either the manual, or on the SSS website.

Some of the scenarios I tried are in very rainy weather, making everything look dull and grey... Not so good for screenshots! ;)

Otherwise, a great package..!

Cheers,

Loving the loco's :D

The only real thing of note for me is that a lot of the time if I go above 39 mph I seem to lose the engine sounds??? I can still hear the fireman and injectors ect but not the loco itself ??

Other than that I quite like them keep up the good work :D
