Re: VP-Northern lines-Blackpool To Preston
Ok
So I have followed this route for years on FB and am excited that I should have managed to download everything and I am quietly confident I have everything required too...
However...
Two questions:
1) What buttons do I push on RW Tools to check I am not missing any assets
and
2) There is a mention regarding the signs which confuses me.When it says the following in the read me: They will now appear in the General Category of Objects; under WCML Nameboard station name, and WCML Sign station name. Because of the way the blueprint for the small wall signs operates, you will need to resize them in the ratio x:y:z = 1:2:1. The nameboards are the correct size and ratio. They do not have legs, which you can supply if they are to be free standing. Does this mean I still need to make adjustments IN GAME once I have installed and run the batch file?
Sorry to ask what is probably two basic questions but I want to ensure I get it right (OCD and all that!!)
Thanks in advance.
Brian

1) Click Route Building Tools-Check Routes and Scenarios then select Northern Lines in the window that appears and then click Check Selected route, and follow each step, you can ignore any that have "Decal" in them as they are just what the route builder initially used (showing it's age!).bri2808 wrote:Ok

2) Everything below "Finally clear the blueprint cache" is for the use of the route builder,as they were sent to him by an external source.

Well, another morning dawns, and reading this, most people seem to be deeper in the mire than ever !
I am not going to install this route unless the developer looks at and addresses ALL the issues raised, and withdraws it from availability until they are sorted, and then uploads a completely new and totally trouble-free version !
I was so looking forward to driving this route, (no doubt like many others), but I dont have the skill or the time, to start tinkering with the contents to get them to work. That is the job of the developer.
Sorry !

Regarding question 2 - that is info FOR the developer (Tomhas2) to help him place the signs. It is only helpful if any other route builders wish to use those signs. Everyone else should ignore it - and it should be removed from the Readme!bri2808 wrote:Ok

Can I just say I find you to be extremely rude and inconsiderate. Bare in mind this is a free route created for free by people in there own free time and you have came out with 2 posts in this thread and in both of them all you have done is criticise the developers. If you can do it any better be my guest and you create itshinymac wrote:Well, another morning dawns, and reading this, most people seem to be deeper in the mire than ever !

Re: VP-Northern lines-Blackpool To Preston
Hi all,
Firstly, I would just like to thank you for creating this route - really enjoying driving it so far - I've been wanting to drive Voyagers between Preston and Blackpool ever since VTWC started the route.
Everything appears to be working okay except for one missing texture on Platform 1 at Preston - can this be fixed? Am I missing a dependency?

The only thing I did noticed during the installation of the Transpennine Route Asset Package from Train Sim Dev is that the installer claims there is one missing item - "Update: UKTrainSim - Ambient Audio #1" but this has been installed as per the instructions.
Can I fix the missing texture?
Many thanks.

Re: VP-Northern lines-Blackpool To Preston
If you drop into the route through the World Editor and double click the asset that's *missing* a texture, you'll get a slide out box on the left of your screen. In there will be the path and file name of the asset. Make a note of them and post in here what they are then the guys can check that all the textures it calls for are included.sn5775 wrote:Can I fix the missing texture?

Re: VP-Northern lines-Blackpool To Preston
Derek, without feedback from users the developer can't fix things--he/they don't know they need fixing until we tell them!!shinymac wrote:I dont have the skill or the time, to start tinkering with the contents to get them to work. That is the job of the developer.
Lets look at what is wrong though...
initial problems with the .rwp---now fixed
a Readme.txt that we shouldn't read fully--explained well enough in here
confusion over the pathing of some assets---this doesn't stop the route loading or being playable, and is more a bone of contention between those with differing opinions on *how it should be done*. Nothing to prevent you, or anybody else, downloading and following the instructions, whilst referring to the advice offered in here for the minor issues that may remain.
Don't be put off by an earlier post requesting help on how to determine if there are missing assets--that addressed how to use RW Tools, not how to fix any problems the route may have had/still has.
(No insult to the member requesting clarification expressed there, "if in doubt ask" is a damn good strategy)
Download the files, read the instructions, read the advice in here, install....enjoy!

So how does 1.1 differ from 1.0?

Re: VP-Northern lines-Blackpool To Preston
EDIT:...can't tell my right from my left...
the slide out box I referred to earlier is on the RIGHT hand side of the screen....
and you seem to be having an issue with the
..\Assets\keithmross\WCML2\Scenery\Stations\Textures\windowtrans_nm.TgPcDx
file.
Firstly, use Windows Explorer to determine whether you have that file installed.
If you have, drop back into the game and in the graphical options turn your "Scenery Density" up to as far as it'll go---don't worry about this having any effect on your performance for now, we're trying to determine just what is wrong and if you need to drop it back there's a way round that yet still getting the glass texture to display.
Test again if you've found that you do have the texture and have turned the scenery density up.
If that works, and you don't need to turn the setting down again, great...enjoy.
If you must run at a lower scenery density post back.
If you don't have the texture file in question a verify would put that back---I won't say soon put it back as it could take a while
This however is a bit drastic to reacquire a single 6kb file, so if it is AWOL, post back.

It's 10% bigger, newer, faster, better.......Drogba11CFC wrote:So how does 1.1 differ from 1.0?
It also resolves the .rwp issue that the original version had.

The warning that it's complicated was given,it was either that or no release at all.shinymac wrote:Well, another morning dawns, and reading this, most people seem to be deeper in the mire than ever !

Do you think we just ignore people?
Do you not realise how hard it is to try and arrange getting all the included assets together and then work out what else was needed,I think we've done well to get where we have considering it is our first major release.
Makes me wonder why we bother.
