Is the UKTS Freeware Route Pack - Trans Pennine v1.0.17 available anywhere as a direct download, rather than through a torrent?

To my knowledge Jim uploaded it specifically for this route, for now at least. Unfortunately he isn't really in the sim world anymore, and wasn't able to tell me what he had put in the installer.

Unfortunately it's simply a case of complicated install or no route release at all,Personally I believe It would've been a real shame if we hadn't released it.

Yeah, same page at Trainsimdev (http://www.trainsimdev.com/forum/downlo ... &df_id=150) gives you the option to download through your browser.

I stand corrected, so the best way of doing it would be to cut those duplicated folders out of the game and spend an hour or so with RW Tools. The signals (and any other track linked objects) would/should/could be pretty easy if they're using the same name as those in the JT folder, a 'search and replace' in the routes Tracks.bin file would do the lot in one hit.

Just out of curiosity, does the Nobkins/Trans Pennine/Just Trains/......./ModernSignals (or however it's named) folder contain any .GeoPcDx files?

Whilst this is not the absolute definitive answer, my Deltic project reminds me to warn thus:

Due to incorrect relative pathing or due to not wanting to reskin all default JT signals as they reside in a CommonLibrary, which does exactly what you'd expect, it could be that duplicate sub-directories have been created.

As an example, for the Green Deltic Geo file, all but the 55a and 55b of theain body textures are actually referenced from the Default BR Blue folder. So if you reskin any of that then you alter the default and ALL other Deltic reskins.

As this concerned wheels, bogies and the like, I ended up creating a duplicate folder structure one folder level lower, which contain their own unique 'default' folders and allow changing of taillight and headlight textures which were generic from the Kuju folder and not even specific to only Deltics, so that they don't show up.

So firstly ensure you definitely know that there isn't a reason for these seemingly frivolous duplicate folders first of all.

Yes, there's always a reason for folder duplication, but not usually across Provider/Product--so first we need to definitely determine whether these duplicated assets are reskinned versions and if they are we can then wonder why they haven't simply been put in a folder structure along the lines of your Deltics.
If the (seemingly) duplicated signal(s) folder(s) don't contain the .GeoPcDx files then they'd just be duplicated .bin files pointing to the JT Common Library (or even Marsdonshire, where they originally lived) so whilst RW Tools would report a 'clean bill of health' (it looks for a .bin file in the location specified) it's possible that folk could end up running a (seemingly) complete route with no shapes (and therefore no textures) for signals.
If the folders contain .GeoPcDx files and textures, have those textures actually been reworked?...do the .bin files reflect that the signals are TPR reskins? .....plenty of un-definites to go at!

The only definites I can provide are

Jim had permission from JT to redistribute the signals as he helped in their production
Jim also had permission to redistribute the other assets in his asset pack

To my knowledge they are not reskins.

He simply doesn't appear to come into the TS circle anymore and as such it's hard to get to him,the TPR asset pack was uploaded specifically for this route and is assets that were held back for the Ill fated tpr route.

Sorry chaps, but I am totally confused !

Is this going to turn into ANOTHER of those situations where a developer spends half his life creating a wonderfully detailed route, and then fails to do a final check before release, to see if there are any issues with it ? I was looking forward to installing this route when I got home from work, but here I am reading posting after posting, stating that there are already problems with it, which the developer cant or wont put right in the shape of a re-release of the route when the problems have all been addressed ?

Can someone please tell me if I can now download and install the route, and IT WILL WORK WITHOUT ANY PROBS ? And further more, which of the two sites I should download it from, in case one download location still has the old faulty route in ?

Cheers

Sorry Gary - Yeah, same page at Trainsimdev (http://www.trainsimdev.com/forum/downlo ... &df_id=150) gives you the option to download through your browser.
- not so, web browser D/L stopped.
Not too sure about the torrent thing, so I'll give this a miss.

I will download again and see how it goes. I have run those batches as well - the readme says there is a patch but actually says nothing about running a batch which is why I was confused

Will try again later as Mediafire seems to be having issues

It's not on Mediafire anymore Chris,as advertised it's now back on our site :)

The signs and route all work fine for myself, the builder and the testing team. (Though I must add that the .bat is a lot of faffing about)

I'm struggling to download it, I'm sorry to say. I think it's a Mediafire issue. I go to the website, click on the Download Now button. That flips me to Mediafire. I click on the download button there and get a connection failure.

Doing the first scenario with the 5MT and it says the weather is winter and stormy, but it is summer and stormy. Think it is a TS fault as I have a scenario on Sherman Hill which is meant to be fine but it is raining.
