New Opening Screens

Post by petermargetts »

Have just opened TS and have discovered new opening screens and new insipid blue colour and print for all the following scenario etc screens. Not impressed - I wonder what everyone else thinks

The colour doesn't bother me, I quite like blue. I'm glad nothing has really changed, hopefully everything still works as before as I forgot to back it up. :(

Sorry but I suppose someone had to start the complaints. Can't wait to read all the other rubbish that will be posted over the next few day. The screen changes are only to be expected with a new version. Let's concentrate on what matters. Does everything still work etc.

Everything working as normal my end after the update. I prefer these screens but it's horses for courses and in the end it doesn't matter as long as the game behaves.

It's just an opening screen. You can always swap them out if they offend your eyes that much...

They're ok and as Ash mentioned you can always change them for your own images.

Didn't we get loads of folk wanting their old TS2015 screen in their new TS2016 install; and before that folk wanted their TS2014 screens back after the upgrade to TS2015; and before that..........

Just do a quick search through the forum, looking for 'change TS screens' or suchlike and you'll soon find a list of the various files you need to copy from your back up....you did make a backup didn't you? (with all the fuss over TSW we all forgot to start chanting the mantra this year)

I've been unable to purchase TS2017 ( see my post in other thread) as there seems to be some glitch.

What concerns me more than the opening screens ( which can as you say be swapped out {mine are from TS2014} ) is the appearance and form of the menus or user interface. TS2016 was a slight improvement in colour contrast to TS15, but the quirky format of the menus was the same.

What are the TS17 menus like for colour contrast and ease of use ?

Answering my own question...the menus seem the same as before. No better, no worse!

I actually think the new menu screen is more smooth looking and easier to read if I am Hinest. Like others have said didn't take long for someone to start the moaning. Every year is the same. You can bet your money if they didn't change the menu screen the same person would be moaning it was the same and how the uodate was poor

Does make you wonder how you can please certain people really

Actually, it may be my installation, but I can't see any difference whatsoever to the menus ? :-?

I just thought: If they did not change anything in the software, we can still discuss the loading screen.
As a seasoned TS20xx user, everyone must have a bunch of GUI & intro variations in their backups.

At the peak of the TSW hype (next February or March), someone ought to start a retro-TS2014 campaign, claiming it had the best loading screens ever and TSW cannot be an alternative for that reason. 8)

Are you do it like some car owners: I got TS2017 with a 2013 loading screen and a 2015 GUI overlay - look how cool!

My version # shows 58.3a , I assume this is TS2017 ? My menus look the same as they did in TS2016

The only change I've seen after the upgrade from TS2016 to TS2017 is that the icon on my desktop has changed to a globe. :-) There is no change in the software that I can see. The routes and scenarios work as before as does the Editor.

Not a grumble (at all) but I have noticed on the splash screen, there is no logo!
I have the three trains lined up, then at the bottom the usual stuff, but no TS2017 logo.
(I have disabled all the intro videos etc.)
