AP Class 47 Sound Pack Pro : No Sound in cab!

Post by shinymac »

Hi Chaps

I dont often drive a Class 47 in Trainsim, but when I decided to do so today, it appeared that my loco had reverted to the default sounds for a Class 47. So, as I knew I had purchased the Armstrong Powerhouse Sound Pack Pro a long time ago, I simply located it, and re-installed it.

However, I now find I have no engine sounds from within the cab, and the previous 2-tone horn (Which incidentally sounded brilliant) that came with the default loco, had now been replaced with a very poorly sounding 1-tone horn ! All I have is exterior sounds of the loco, which sound ok.

Does anyone know if this is a known problem and if Armstrong Powerhouse brought out a patch for it please ? I cant see one on their site. I havent yet contacted them, as I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.

Thanks

Derek

In terms of the horn you need to press the spacebar and the B key to get a two-tone horn. It's standard in all of their sound packs to date.

The pack only installs onto the original default class 47s to my knowledge,so if you're driving a reskin you will need to use the Easy Apply Utility that AP include with the pack.

I have this sometimes, but as Mark said, I firstly re-install the soundpack a second time. Making sure, to run as Admin, then run the easy utility installer for any reskins

Yeah..I am well aware of the requirement when driving some locos, to use the "Space Bar+b" combination. But that doesnt work either ! I just get a poorly sounding one tone horn, with the space bar and nothing with the "B" key.

I am a bit nervous about using this "easy apply utility", as looking through the archives in an effort to find others with the same problems, I have come across some people who have used it, and it made things a whole lot worse for them !

How do I revert the sounds, BACK to the default sound please ?

Derek, it's most likely using the default sounds, but as you've the AP pack installed the default sounds aren't available to be used.
Which class 47 is it?... it seems a bit daft to want to go back to default sounds if it's only a single livery that's a bit flakey. If all your other class 47s sound as they should it's easy enough to use one of their .bin files as a base to produce a new one for the loco with problems...all you need is somebody who's got two days off work, nowt else to do, and is willing to do the job for you :)

You could try manually installing the files by installing them outside TS to something like your desktop, then copy and paste the files into their correct folders.

Hi, if it's one of the Kuju skins, RWtools has an option in the edit assets tab, as you can do more than 1 reskin at a time - just make sure you use the add 47 sounds option - it goes very badly wrong if you click the wrong option!

Guys...you're all missing the point Derek has made in this, and other threads where he's needed a little help

Whilst many of us are happy with editing .bin files etc, Derek isn't.
Before telling him what to do isn't it worthwhile finding out on what he wants to do it? For all we know he's dealing with a reskin that's not supported by any of the *easy* tools available; installing the sound pack to his desktop is a good idea, but then what? What files would he copy? If the soundpack doesn't have an appropriate .bin file for the reskin in question what then?

Hi Gary et al

Sorry for not giving you all as much info as I should. And thanks for your understanding Gary, that, whilst some of us like myself, are happy to do a LITTLE tinkering here and there, we dont always have enough knowledge or confidence to do any major tweaks !

I have ran tests on all the Class 47s I own. The sounds seem to be working fine in all of them except two. Here are the details -

The Class 47 I was having probs with was the "Vulcan Productions Reskin 47484 Isambard Kingdom Brunel, that the designers of " Snacktime Scenario No88 "Bath to Brunel" for the Western Mainlines route state you can use,as an alternative to the DTG Marketplace reskin.

The other Class 47 that I have discovered doesnt work properly, is the WCRC Class 47 in Maroon.

Both have the same symptoms...No sound in cab. And only a one tone horn, even when using the "Space bar+B" command.

Hope this helps

Thanks

My guess is that both of those reskins have .bin files pointing to the default sounds. Once you install AP's sound pack they won't work. The EasyApply utility isn't 100% reliable, even Mike Simpson has said that and he wrote it I believe, so you need replacement .bin files producing based upon one used by an 'AP enabled' loco---the default one would be the best choice.

I'll happily do that for you, just send the .bin files for the reskins and the one from the default 47 over...no guarantees of course, but I'm 99.9998% certain we'll soon have your ears full of in-cab sounds and a nice horn :)

Why not just install the AP sounds to your desktop and copy and paste the bin files from there into the 47s that don't have the sounds.

Because the .bin files in the soundpack don't cover these particular reskins Trev.

Derek, mail the files......
