Neil Cunningham's A1 loco re-skins

Post by railsofgold »

Neil (or anyone who knows the answer),

I downloaded the RW-Contents-Re-skin installer, and now have the 4 files and the "RW-ContentX folder in my Railworkse root folder.

Then I unzipped your A1 historic pack into the RW-ContentsX folder. It now has the 3 files that were the contents of the zipped folder in RW-ContentsX

So what do I do now to activate the process (so that I see the selections shown on the illustration in UKTS 35949)? Everything is just sitting there, waiting on something.

Best regards to all, Bill

Hi Bill, I have the reskins for both the A1 and the A3, but have as yet to fully understand the install process, so have not yet made a move to try it out. It seems a slightly unusual process to any of the "other" process' I have got used to. I see someone in the "Old Forums" has made mention of them and am waiting for a reply to my in-ability to work through it.
The first part sounds okay, but then I am lost.

This is what I did and it worked for both the A1 and the A3 packs. I'll use the A1 pack as an example.

First install the installer by:
1. Unzip UKTS_35949_ContentX-upgrade-pack.zip into a temporary folder.
2. Move the contents of the Content-upgrade-pack folder (four files and a folder) into your steamapps\common\railworks folder (the one that contains your Assets and Contents folders.
3. Unzip UKTS_35951_A1-historic_reskin-pack.zip into a temporary folder.
4. Move the resulting .txt file and two .zip files into the RW-contentX folder in your railworks folder. (Don't try to unzip the .zip files.)
5. Run RW-ContentX.exe in your railworks folder by double-clicking on it.
6. In the window that opens, choose the pack you want to upgrade and press "Install Selected Pack".

Repeat 3-6 for the A3 pack.

Done.

One of the 4 files you unzipped to your Railworks folder is the actual application called "RW-ContentX". In my setup it is sitting 4 files below the Railworks application.

If you double click on the application and you have installed the folders from the reskins as described, this will open the application in a small window as displayed in the illustration for UKTS 35949, with the choice of the reskins to install.

Select which one to install with left mouse button then left click the "Install Selected Pack" button.

The instructions are non too clear. However, I have the RW-contentX folder in my Railworks folder with the four additional files and I have the four zipped files for the A1 and A3 in the RW-contentX folder. When I try to run the application I get a message telling me "No upgrade packs were found - checked that you have copied/installed the upgrade packs into the railworks\rw-contentx folder." I have the required RSC SCS A1 & A3 assets so what am I doing wrong? I have attached two screenshots,

Levisham - that is weird - you should have a set of .txt files as well (which tell the installer what to do with the files). I'm not in a position to double check at the moment - if anyone else can help out then feel free - otherwise I'll get to it tonight. It looks like you've done things right but I'm bemused as to why you don't have the .txt files as well.

Neil,
I have deleted everything and downloaded again with Windows Defender definitely switched off. I have re-installed everything as it was before and now the txt files are there and the installations have been successful this time. I can only think that up until yesterday I had not renewed my premium account and what with a 5kbs download speed taking over 45 minutes for each loco something got left behind...........must get that latest scenario downloaded and installed!

Neil,
You asked for a PM but whether it reached you or not I don't know.
These are the messages I was getting in case the PM did not actually reach you.
A1
CMISC specified but failed to unzip .zcn file-aborting upgrade
then Install failed
A3 both just Install failed.
Hope there is an answer.

Thank you all for your responses. That made it very clear what I needed to do. I now have three REALLY fine new A1's.
I have posted a new Topic regarding Neil's A3's, but as it has nothing to do with the installation process, I have separated it from this discussion.

Neil
Rechecking everything the answer became fairly obvious. When I extracted the the files for RW convert the zip dll did not carry over. Looking back now it seems so obvious. Anyway installing ok now. Thanks.

Richard and John - very glad that you both got the installer working - flippin' computers eh - who'd have 'em :-)

Sorry that you both had troubles - hopefully the next pack will be a doddle for you !

Kind regards

Aha many thanks, I have copied your comments and pasted to a PDF and just printed it off.
I will take a look at it in the morning. Thanks also for all other comments.

Roland

Did John's comment work for you ? If so then I will shamelessly crib them and make them the official instructions :-)

Good to hear - from the comments it seems I may have to delay to next stage of the route for some loco production .....
