apk. not working in RouteRiter
Hello All,
Recently I can't get any .apk files to work, keep getting the following error pop-up :
'This package requires a route called SouthEast, UID SouthEast'
I can use the alternative installer supplied with some Activities and RouteRiter checks the Activity.
Any help gratefully accepted.
Cheers
Alan

Re: apk. not working in RouteRiter
Hi Alan,
Sorry, but I don't understand the title!!
First, probably silly, question - do you have the South East route installed in your default MSTS installation?
Second question (self-plug!) - have you tried my APKExtractor3? (I never use TSUnpack!!)
Cheers,
Ged

Re: apk. not working in RouteRiter
Hi Alan, as Ged has asked where have you installed the SouthEast Route, the apk.file should only be used when like me you are using Win XP as
it looks for the Route in the normal C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Train Simulator path.
If you are using Win 7, 8, 8.1 or Win 10 or have it installed as a MiniRoute then you can use the .exe File and change the path to suit your setup
or do as Ged has suggested use his extractor and again change the path to install the files in the right place.

Re: apk. not working in RouteRiter
Hi Bob and Alan,
Just to clarify, when using APKExtractor3, you don't need to change any paths. The program will ask you to enter the drive letter/s to be searched for MSTS installations, If the required route is found in more than one installation, it will ask you to select which one the activity is to be installed into. If there is only one installation with the matching route, it will request confirmation into that installation.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: apk. not working in RouteRiter
Hi Bob and Jed,
Up until about 2 weeks ago I have been able to double click on a apk file without any problems in Win 7 & on Win 10 since it came available.
My Train Simulator path has been changed to the Steam4me setup on C: drive.
However if you could point me in the direction of your extractor I will try it.
All my routes except the ones that come as a standalone mini route are all on the main installation and I use Train Store to run them.
Cheers

Hi Alan, as Ged is not on-line at the moment I had a look for you and found this is the latest version :-
There is also another program that may be of use as well and the file below tells you about it.

Re: apk. not working in RouteRiter
Hello and thanks to you all for your help.
I have downloaded both files & will try them.
It would be nice to find out why the original setup stopped working.
Cheers

That is totally incorrect and misleading.scampispeedway wrote:the apk.file should only be used when like me you are using Win XP as

Under Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, the .apk file will install the activity in the location specified in the registry, not automatically in C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Train Simulator
I've used Windows 7 for years and now Windows 10 with my MSTS in D:\MSTS, and using the .apk file the activity alway gets installed in the correct place.

Re: apk. not working in RouteRiter
HI Everyone, since I've never ran MSTS in anything other than XP and Eric mentions that the .exe file is directed to C:/Program File/Microsoft
Games/Train Simulator path, I assumed that this meant that you couldn't use the .apk unless you had MSTS installed in that directory.
My advice which was made good faith and was incorrect and I will not make the same mistake again.
