Google Earth 6.1 - Anywhere?

Post by riggs386 »

I posted on here a couple of years ago about gaps in the Google Earth overlay. No solution was available, even though a few others were having the same issue. I had no choice but to resort to RW Decal, which worked well enough, if a little more time consuming, but after route building with MSTS and having to write down, manually,
co-ordinates for every piece of track, a piece of cake.

So - when my hard drive packed in two months ago, I installed a solid state drive, windows, etc., and had all my files saved so there were no real problems - except
that I can't run RW Decals anymore, because it doesn't work with versions of Google Earth later than 6.1. There's no option to download earlier versions than 6.2 on Google's site, and though I've tried other sources - and the download actually states that it's 6.1 - when it installs, it connects to the internet and updates to 7.1. I've tried turning off the internet but the installation fails then.

Does anyone know how I can get a working version of GE 6.1 please? This is driving me to distraction!

Cheers.

No idea if this works as I'm on my phone but you could try the link below. I got it by putting google earth 6.1 in Google. http://filehippo.com/download_google_earth/10837/

Hope this helps

Andy

Hi Andy (and riggs386),
Your filehippo link will only get you v7.1!!
I suggest you try this one, which definitely downloads, and installs, v6.1.0.5001 (I've just checked it out :) ) : http://www.filesoul.com/software/Google ... /download/

Cheers,
Ged

Thanks for the reply, but I've already tried that one - it downloads as 6.1, but as soon as you run the installer, it connects to the internet and downloads 7.1.5... seems Google don't want anyone accessing the older versions, for some reason.

Well thanks slipperman, especially, but thanks to both of you... I'd just about given up hope. I downloaded from the link and finally got 6.1, ran Rw Decals and it calibrated fine, in seconds.

Great - a bit of route building tomorrow - just hoping it rains (you know what I mean :D )
