What does RW Tools say they are--scenery, loft, road etc?

The files may actually not be needed, but the reference to them is still retained in the .xml document.

I too had the missing folders - Exeter1, Exeter2, Newton and Tiverton - but did as JohnM suggested, and that cleared that up.

Still showing 11 'missing' assets though, although I believe some of them may have been named wrongly, viz:

Missing RSC\UKLEDsignals01\RailNetwork\Signals\Pro Signals\Pro Signal Heads\Pro Buffer Lights_1.bin, whereas I have
......... " " " " " " \Pro Buffer Lights.bin

and so on...

Another misnaming is in the Thomson\FortWilliamMallaig where there seems to be an additional folder called
FortWilliamMallaigAssets folder.

In the instructions for installation it says
Riviera_Stations.dcsv
To get the full list of stations to show in the navigation window you’ll need to use RW Tools to unpack MainContent.ap at this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes\00000042-0000-0000-0000-000000002014
When you’ve done that replace the existing Riviera_Stations.dcsv with the one in the download, renaming the existing file to Riviera_Stations.bak first
But I don't have an Riviera_Stations.dcsv in the folder after extraction

Any ideas?

Thanks

I cannot see a 'Riviera Stations' in the original, unpacked, route either!

If there's a FortWilliamMallaigAssets folder referenced in the route then the .ap archive for that DLC on the author's PC has been incorrectly unpacked. That folder doesn't exist, other than being the name of the archive.
Creating those missing folders and moving .bin files into it DOESN'T cure any problems---it only allows RW Tools to see a file of the right name in the right location. A .bin on it's own adds nothing; all it does is tell the game where to find the .GeoPcDx file (model shape) so if you ain't got one of those you've created a bigger problem. Even if you do have that .Geo you still may not have the texture(s) it calls for, resulting in "missing texture" being displayed in game.
I suspect these *missing* files are/were merely decals as an aid when building the route, and if so can safely be ignored---or even removed.
Open one of the .bin files in RW Tools and see if it contains any clues.

You won't find a .dcsv file in the route's .ap ---- try the associated Assets .ap.

Look in Railworks/Assets/RSC/RivieraLine/RouteMarkers. I just created a new file, renamed it "orginal" and popped the original "Riviera Stations" into that as a back up and replaced with the new one. Works OK for me ... all the new stations are now showing in the list when creating scenarios.

Do you mean "created a new folder..." ?

Yes, I'm picky and pedantic but there's already enough confusion about this .dcsv file from the *official* instructions quoted earlier by Peter without adding to it

The file actually doesn't need saving anywhere, the original version is still intact in the .ap archive but as long as the file outside of the .ap has exactly the same path/name the archived version isn't used.

The correct procedure for the "Riviera_Stations.dcsv" I got from the comments section for the route where the download is aquired.

Sorry gptech, didn't mean to confuse. I had already unpacked the .ap file so just moved the original .dcsv file in a new folder marked "original" and put the new file in it's place. Bit quirky maybe, the point was more about the correct location for the .dcsv file. ( Assets rather than Route ). Getting old so not so tech or IT savi as most. Humble apologies

Regards JohnT
To put in the new Riviera_Stations.dcsv:
1. Open RWTools
2. Click ‘Files’
3. Click ‘Open .ap manager’
4. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\RivieraLine\RouteMarkers
5. I can’t remember what the .ap file is called – I suspect ‘RivieraLineAssets.ap’, or something like that.
6. Click on ‘Extract files’
7. Click on ‘Extract all to same folder as .ap’
8. When finished, use File Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\RivieraLine\RouteMarkers
9. Rename Riviera_Stations.dcsv to Riviera_Stations.bak
10. Paste the new Riviera_Stations.dcsv into the folder Done! This will add all the new stations to your original Riviera Line, but it’s the only way to do it.
OR...

use WinRAR or 7-Zip to open the .ap archive
or copy the .ap archive to somewhere easy to get at (your desktop is as good as anywhere else) and rename it to RivieraLineAssets.zip which allows Windows to open it.

Once it's open in whatever program you've used just treat it like any other folder tree you'd navigate through with Windows Explorer and get to the ..\RouteMarkers\Riviera_Stations.dcsv file.
Drag and drop it onto your desktop.
Right click it, choose properties and un-tick the "Read Only" box.
Copy or cut & paste that single file to the required folder in the game.

Much simpler, faster, and less clutter, and of course as you'll now be aware isn't the only way to do it.

EDIT:...should add that RW Tools also has a routine for extracting just a single file from an archive which also negates the need to untick the "Read Only" box as the program does it automatically.

Ahhh..I see now, but the same rules apply; you'll still have the archived files in the .ap (unless of course you'd deleted it) so what you had was a copy of the default file taking precedence over the exact same file that's in the archive.

Over the years we've had an endless fuss over the unnecessary duplication of files in the game, but now everybody is happy to do just that by extracting everything from .ap archives.
Yes, there are reasons why you'd want to pull files out of the archive---for reskinning, for swapping stock in scenarios with RW Tools, and I've come across two cases where extracting archived content has been essential to allow those particular users to actually use the assets in game---this ones an oddity though and indicates a low level problem in their setup rather than a flaw in the .ap system.

However, for those valid reasons outlined above (and probably countless more) all you need are the files you're working with---for reskinning the shape file and textures, but for swapping stock with RW Tools all that's needed are the stock's .bin files.

In the case of this .dcsv file though nothing needs extracting. All that's needed is the revised file sat in the right folder and it'll be used instead of the archived copy---why extract a file to overwrite it with another one?

\Assets\Ceege\Scenery\Exeter1\CISBTMP3.bin

(and the others)

CISBTMP = Customer Information Screen Bristol Temple Meads Platform.... so, not decals as I suspected.

If you've all copied those files into new folders to match what RW Tools says the .bin files will just point back to ..\Assets\Ceege\Scenery\Buildings\ for the .GeoPcDx files---fine if you've still got those files there, but if you've decided they weren't needed 'cos RW Tools didn't now mention them you're left with a missing asset and a milk bottle.
These seem to be reskins of a Just Trains asset (copyright issues here as the shape files are being distributed?), so should be out of the Just Trains/Bristol_Exeter_1 folder so's not to replace the textures in the Just Trains route.

I know, I should read the installation notes but as my installation of Office is old fashioned I can't open .docx files without a fuss, so can anybody post the instructions for these assets?

Hi gptech,
Fully understand what your saying. Forgot to mention that, as you rightly point out, it is sometimes necessary to completely unpack the .ap file. On the occasions when i do that, I then move and archive the .ap file so that I don't duplicate whats in the folder. Great thing about these forums is the ability to learn new tricks from experienced guys like yourself and some of your hints and tips have already proved very useful so thank you for the endless help you give.
Kind regards
