Rolling starts - No waypoints/messages displayed

Post by riggs386 »

I'm trying to make as realistic a scenario of the 1S45 8:30 Euston - Glasgow central as possible, on the WCML Trent Valley, Shap and North routes. The service is non - stop to Warrington, so obviously on the Trent Valley section, a rolling start is the only way I can achieve any sort of realism.

But I've noticed two things:

1) I've set the rolling start to 90mph, in the middle of Kilsby tunnel, just to the south of Rugby. I've set timed waypoints at Hillmorton Jnc., Rugby DFL., Rugby Trent Valley Jnc., Brinklow, Attleborough Jnc., Nuneaton Pltfm 3, Amington Jnc., Lichfield North Jnc., Rugely North Jnc., Colwich and Stafford DFL. But when driving the scenario, pressing F1, no waypoints appear ?

2) I have the FOV set at 87 (set in Steam.) Sometimes when I play the scenario, the FOV resets to the default value, and stays that way thereafter, even on other scenarios - I have to go back into steam options/Launch options to reset it again - and even then that doesn't always work.

Any ideas, anyone?

There are a couple of threads in the General forum about the FOV: it seems that the Steam client isn't passing the command to the game, the *fix* being to use a desktop shortcut to start the game.

Missing waypoints......is this issue confined to that particular route?

Hi, if the train is following the correct path, the waypoints are probably working correctly - I think you need a go via instruction to register a time.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner - I haven't been near the laptop in the last few days, but thanks both for your replies.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction - I did find, eventually, a way to change the Fov permanently:

1) Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Railworks\dev\scripts\engineScript. Open that file in Notepad and set both Fov arguments to the desired number. Since doing this, I haven't had any problems.

2) I did put waypoints, with messages, and timed as well, on the path, but I first tried to set the rolling start, which seemed to be throwing things out. So eventually I made the activity, including all the waypoints, messages etc, got it running OK., then set the rolling start, and that seems to work OK., so the lesson is to get the activity working properly first, before you set the rolling start.

Found the answer to one of the problems eventually:

No messages being displayed when playing a scenario with rolling start - You have to get all the messages you wish to be displayed before you save the rolling start. So, get the scenario right, then once you're happy with it, tick the rolling start box in the top right hand flyout at the start of the scenario editing, start the scenario, get up to the speed you wish to save, then press [CTRL] + F2.

Thanks for the replies all.
