Glorious Devon Exeter to Plymouth 1958 now updated to ver1.2

Glorious Devon "Exeter to Plymouth 1958 ver 1.2" is now available on DPSimulations with the kind curtesy of Darren Porter:

Please read the manual before you even attempt to install it, not that its difficult but it does give information on how to get the best settings for your computer and game, also explanations and fixes if things don't right the first time.

This version corrects the passenger loading and unloading issues for Plymouth platforms 1 to 7 and Newton Abbot platforms 2 and 4.

There has also been some floating scenery corrections.

If you have the original "GD Exeter to Plymouth 1958" or "Glorious Devon Exeter to Plymouth 1958 ver 1.1" installed you may be able to overwite it using the TS2016 package manager in utilities then select the "Glorious Devon Exeter to Plymouth 1958 ver 1.2.rwp" file in the location where you downloaded it. Sometimes an overwrite doesn't get rid of unwanted stuff in the folders.
It would be better that you first back up your "Railworks\Content\Routes\999114e2-9cac-4ee0-9f01-38c7d2fef675" folder including any new scenarios you have made and the "Railworks\Assets\Twocats" folder, then delete those folders and do a fresh install of the rwp file.

Thank you very much Geoff, Tristan and Mike (the GD58 team), I've downloaded and installed Version 1.2 as per your instructions and the "Platform loading", so far, seem to be working fine.

I drove the Scenario "1A19 Penzance- London Paddington" this afternoon and wow it was it superb (it took me right back to my "younger" days in the 1950's and all those holiday Specials). To drive a 13 coach train "double headed" with a pair of Castles up those 'wicked' 1:40 South Devon Banks was so enjoyable and also quite a challenge to keep up a decent speed on the Banks. I have the wonderful SSS GWR Castle Sound Pack installed (what a difference this makes) and the Loco sounds really were wonderful.

Once again very well done to all those that were involved, this is the best Freeware Route download available so far, in my opinion, so much atmosphere.

Version 1.2 seems to have sorted the problems - Both 1A19 Penzance to Paddington and 1V43 Manchester-Penzance now load passengers and Newton Abbot appears to be OK too. many thanks for your perseverance, Mike!

A pretty unlikely combination though, Ash. Weren't Kings banned west of Newton Abbott in steam days. My memories of pilot engines on Summer Saturdays at Newton are of Granges and Halls or even Prairie tanks with Castles as the train engine - never a King on a Plymouth train, although they did venture along the Torbay branch.

Some excellent track-work and (I assume) super evelation, guys - i've just had Dartmouth Castle doing 90 down Dainton Bank in a 55 mph zone, and 120 down Hemerdon Bank, with not the slightest hint of coming off the tracks!

Great attention to detail too - I noticed a clapped out old pick-up truck with what looked to be a over-heated, steaming radiator near the top of Rattery.

Really enjoying this route now - without doubt, the best steam-era route currently available for TS2016!

Kings could run as far as Plymouth but were unable to cross the Royal Albert Bridge into Cornwall - I wouldn't know if they did in the time span of this route though..

Due to their size and weight, the class was restricted to the London-Taunton-Plymouth (via both Bristol and Westbury) and London-Birmingham-Wolverhampton (via Bicester) main lines and even then, only after bridge strengthening had taken place, due to the engines' large boilers giving them a high axle weight of 22.5 long tons (22.9 t). The "Kings" were unable to serve Cornwall, due to the Royal Albert Bridge being too weak for their weight, and so when they were hauling the Cornish Riviera Limited, they had to be swapped for a 'Castle' or 'Hall' at Devonport.

I think you're right Kernow - the weight of the Kings led to them being restricted from routes west of Plymouth.

The unlikely combination I think Alan's refering to is that of a King and a Castle in tandem.

Kings were banned west of Plymouth,not Newton Abbott.Laira 83D had a allocation of Kings up to 1960

I have plentyof photo's and books showing them running between Newton Abbott and Plymouth,( a good book to get for scenario makers is Operation Cornwall by Xpress Publishing)depending on how many coaches they had on the back,they were even allowed to haul trains with out a banker,over the South Devon Banks
