Spotted on Steam via the discussion forum and also a W/Shop scenario. That there was both a scenery enhancement and asset mods available for this route. Being as I hadn't done any playing on this route for ages and do have numerous backups. Decided I'd try these mods out, do recommend them for those who haven't tried them.
Now to the point of this post, cannot recall if this scenario is an original with the route or an addon version. But suspect original as there are both standard and career versions. Has anybody managed to complete it with a final tick for the destination arrival time. The earliest approx time I can get is 15:56 and that is with 77 speeding occurrences. Running with the speed being +/- 0.5 mph of max allowed 25MPH. Even doing extended periods of +0.5-0.9 of the speed limit at no time did the ETA display ever show a declining time but persistently kept increasing it's value.
just wondering JohnT

Re: Donner Pass - To gether as one scenario
Hi, it's impossible as for some reason the loco is using the freight limit rather than passenger, so you can't go anywhere near fast enough!
Re: Donner Pass - To gether as one scenario
Thanks Mark,
I can certainly go fast enough, 77 speeding offences can testify to that. For 90% of the route the max speed is 25MPH, which is easily attained.
Not really Au Fauir, with the niceties of scenario construction. But as I couldn't find any comments about this scenario on Googling, thought the problem, somehow was of my own making . Will approach the rest of the outstanding, not yet attempted, scenarios on this route with an open mind.

Maybe someone on Railworks America might know of an answer?
They will have played these scenarios a lot more than us.

Re: Donner Pass - To gether as one scenario
I think mark was pointing out that if you run at the speed limit for freight trains (I'm assuming the service in question is passenger) you can't keep to the times set for a passenger service. Does the track feature the dual limit arrangement?J1o2h3n4 wrote:I can certainly go fast enough, 77 speeding offences can testify to that

Hi Gary,
been out visiting, hence delay in answering.
The service in question is a rescue of a stalled freight train and the speed limit being adhered to, is as displayed in the HUD. Which incidentally immediately flags up an offence if exceeded. In the majority of the time that limit is 25MPH which is easily attained, hence all my penalty's.
I'll go with Peters suggestion and post on RWAmerica, no doubt there will have been some discussion in the past on this and other Donner Pass scenarios.
Was actually just looking to see if I was missing some obvious trick or two, senior moments and such.
Thanks all JohnT

Re: Donner Pass - To gether as one scenario
Hi John,
I gave this one a go (the Standard one) and my findings were similar to yours. The timings were too tight for me, the only way I could keep to the schedule was to nudge the average speed up to 26 - 27 mph, with occasional 28 - 29 if I dropped below 25 at any time.
So, I'd expect the Career version to be nigh on impossible, but I haven't tried it.

Re: Donner Pass - To gether as one scenario
A lot of the original scenarios have bugs in them on Donner Pass, especially the career scenarios. It not the only route like this.
I've learned some interesting things.
If the scenario in question was written, then someone comes along afterword and fine tunes brakes etc in the bins and or makes any other changes, the checksum mechanism sees it as cheating.
I suspect some scenarios are old and some tweaks were made to things in scenarios or to rolling stock just before release, and/or as updates and now things don't work right.
Anytime a route's assets get updated or tweeked, then the checksum mechanism makes it necessary to fix the career scenarios. All scenarios should be retested in any case.
If you've installed mods or done some yourself, then some career scenarios will stop loading. (If not all of them)
You can get around this by pressing "F2" and load the scenario anyways, but in the case of a career scenario you won't be able to compete in the global scoring with the mods installed.
This won't work if you are actually missing assets or have modded the track profile.
I pretty much stick to Workshop scenarios most of the time on Donner Pass.
Eric.

Re: Donner Pass - To gether as one scenario
Just done the other option of this scenario, i.e, In bad weather.
This is not a timetabled version. Consequently, not having to have my eyes glued to the speedometer/throttle & Brakes. Was able to stand out front whilst my
co-engineer drove the loco, with minimal input from me. This allowed me to fully appreciate the efforts of the various route scenery developers, and the modified sound and livery modifications. Am re-discovering the Donner Pass anew.
