Re: Class 442 pack coming from AP
Watched the video first and whilst it's a nice demo of listening to the motors - if you are sticking your hear out of the Guards window - the sound heard in the cab is now minimal.
The only time you will hear these nice motor sounds is when another unit goes past.
No sure if you can hear the motors in view 2 - helicopter mode.
Not saying anything is wrong with this sound pack but I don't think it's for me.

Well,
at first attempts, could not get the loco moving. That despite following the printed out page 8 instructions to the letter. Kept getting an alarm and the sound of a relay clicking every time the power handle was moved from the off position. That was resolved eventually by restarting TS and clearing the cache. On trying the included scenario, all seemed well, up and until the first red signal. Whilst stopped I went into the 2dMap [9 ] , but then could not understand why pressing [ 9 ] again did not return the view back to the cabin. Only returned by using the 2DMap return button, only to find whilst stopped "Player train derailed", how did that happen?
Cannot quite get my head around speed control - seems like an exaggerated class 86 type control. In that you go up the options to weak field, but to cut back on power, you go back to zero then reapply power to the new desired setting, keep an eye on the amperage being used.
These are my findings on the very first attempt of use, and I only submit them in case someone else is struggling to get going.

The alarm means you have the parking brake still applied. Hold / or the parking brake release button to release.
Hope that helps!

You can't hear the traction motors from the cabs in real life. I don't think this is an omission somehow.749006 wrote:Watched the video first and whilst it's a nice demo of listening to the motors - if you are sticking your hear out of the Guards window - the sound heard in the cab is now minimal.

not dissing the sp in anyway it is a great pack and needed but saying you cant hear motors in a driving cab is incorrect as you can hear motors in any train cab it forms part of the circuit and round train circuit

Re: Class 442 pack coming from AP
Post you quoted seems to have disapeared, just as well as it is factually incorrect as I and other former/current drivers on here know from real life experience. Personally I think the new pack is up to the usual high standard, and the other improvements are very welcome.

not saying it is not up to standard it certainly is a improvement and one i will purchase yes but point i was making was in cabs you can still hear motors that's all
Re: Class 442 pack coming from AP
Just a quickie,
included scenario completed - no probs.
Could have sworn I had released the handbrake first time around

Re: Class 442 pack coming from AP
Sound wise the original was acceptable in my opinion what AP has done is improve the sounds. They have added more realistic features etc dsd handbrake doo the unsteady air gauge which is realistic. All of which add to the realism. Sorry if my comments don't meet your expectations after all my opinion WILL be different to yours as we all like different thingsVarney wrote:rosschris10 wrote: ...it certainly is a improvementBut hang on, you said that...rosschris10 wrote: ...it is a great pack and needed
