Shunting Scenarios?

Post by crazydude44 »

Does anyone know of any modern shunting scenarios? Like the one that was in a pack a while back where the task was to assemble trains at Bounds Green Depot, then shunt a broken down train that'd been dragged. I found that really engaging and wondered whether or not there is more like it? Thanks in advance :D

You are better searching for scenarios for routes you own in the search area

I know quite a few shunting scenarios but if you don't own the route and stock you would not be able to use them.

Hi Pete,
I have D/L that scenario for the Krupps Yard (Col-Duss Route). But have a problem with it, in that no matter how slowly ( 0.4 km e.g) I attempt to couple to the first Tanker.
As soon as I click the instruction to couple, the tanker has a sever wobble and the scenario ends with a derail error.
I seem to recall in the far distant pass, that this was an ongoing problem with some rolling stock, anybody any ideas?

Some stock has an issue where the length of the collision box doesn't match the length over couplings. For example, my patch for the Class 70 fixes this so that if you buffer up to a wagon and couple, the wagon and loco no longer jump apart to reach the correct spacing for the couplings!

If the couplings are longer than the collision box, one workaround is to go back to RS days and stop carefully at the right distance away - so before you hear the 'clonk' of buffers touching (this is what the '6' view is for). Alternatively, do what I did and edit the .bin file until the lengths work properly.

One of my scenarios on the WCML Trent Valley

For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Hi, I have used the free roam scenario on the WCML at Carlisle Yards, I have used the yards to create consists of all sorts off odd wagons and coaches with the odd loco and use a class 08 shunter to shunt things around to make company consists and MGR trains and such. I like to work at least 3 steps ahead to stop some shunting moves.Have to make sure you start off early in the morning unless you like to change the day to dusk or even into night fall.
And of course you can save what you are doing or start all over a gain ! you can make it as complicated or easy as you wish.

I found derailments when coupling up was caused by when I was creating a consist it sometimes added a wagon on top of what was already placed, I simply deleted the made up consist and started again. This worked for me.

Hours of driving is possible if you like the humble shunter or off course you could use anything you like to shunt with.

All the best -
Steve (Just retired from the railway after 38 years service, so many more hours on TS now !)

Thanks ,
will try out your suggestions the morrow.
Not a clue on how and what to modify in the bin files.
