Setting the "Normal" postion of manual points.

Post by PWHolmes »

How can I set the "Normal" or default position of manual points in my route. Whenever I start a scenario they are set into the sidings instead of the main.

I am building an industrial route and only the points at the junction with BR are AI controlled.

As no one else has answered your query so far, you might like to try this:

Start to run a Freeroam scenario, and alter the points as you go along. Then go straight from Play into Edit, add a tree or two or some other scenery object, and then save and exit the scenario altogether. Try Playing that scenario again and see if the points have remained altered to the way you want them.

I'm one of those troglodites who still uses Rail Simulator, that obsolete original version of Railworks/TrainSimulator 20xx, and it works for me in Rail Simulator. Maybe it will still work in TS?

Thanks - I'll give it a whirl.

Maybe you will also know this as a Rail Simulator user. I have just uploaded Niall Wallace's tennis courts. How do I find them in the millions of items I now have available.

I have Niall's boxes ticked in my blue box thingie, but I am jiggered if I can find 'em anywhere. There's no manual or any hint in the download so I dunno even which category they are in. I have just spent twenty minutes to no avail.

By the way, I am an Old Puffers Spotter too. (62 years!!)

I would open up the Tennis Courts' .xml file and have a look at the Display Name, and the Category that is specified in there.
Have you got Mike Simpson's RWTools? There is a facility in those tools to let you read a .xml file. That would be the most straight forward way.
Personally I use RSBinTool.exe (which is found in the Rail Simulator/RSBinTool folder which you will hopefully find further down the list beneath Assets, Content etc. - keep it in mind that my experience is only with Rail Simulator!).
The display name is shown just a half dozen lines down in the .xml file, and just a few lines further down is the Category.
First of all you need to open up the Rail Simulator/Assets/Niall Wallace/ folder to locate the Tennis Courts' folder so that you know where it is in the file structure; you will need to make your way through, opening the folders as you go along, when you use either RWTools or the RSBinTool.
