New to TS16

Hi all,

I am new to TS16 and it takes me some time to get in to the game. I'm sure there must be a quick way to get into without watching all the adverts for new stock but I've no idea how.

Would appreciate some help please.

Hi Steve,

Try going into "Settings" on the TS2016 opening page and select the "Gameplay" box and then un-tick "Show Intro Video" box and then click on the "Save" box.

As for the adverts whilst a Scenario is loading, you will just have to live with those, but you can always select the "F" on the Loading screens and read the TS2016 Facebook whilst the Scenario loads.

Hi Steve, you can block the adverts by denying Railworks.exe internet access with a firewall rule to give you just a black screen---doesn't speed things up one bit, and could cause bother if you want to browse the Workshop but it's an option.

When you say it "takes some time" just how long are we talking about?

Can you time it accurately?
I know that makes me look pedantic, but the last time we had a thread like this it was claimed that scenarios took 5 minutes to load: after much pressing the guy eventually put a clock beside the PC and found it was closer to half that time.
How fast the game loads is of course dependant on your hardware, so what are your PC specs?

I think it also depends on how much DLC you have too on how fast it loads.

This is the spec of my computer:
Dell XPS 8300
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz
RAM 12.GB
640bit Operating System, x64-based processor
Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6450

I'll be changing the graphics Card to a NVidia Geforce GT730 4GB shortly.

You're right about the time taking to get into the game, it is only about 2 minutes.

Under no circumstances change to that graphics card, it is a travesty that nVidia even make it! They lure people in with promises of lots of RAM, which in reality is painfully slow in order to match the very low spec of the rest of the graphics card.

As a general rule of thumb, regardless of the series number (5, 6, 7 or 9) don't go below 50 for the next two numbers of the model - even if it has less RAM it will be a far superior card.

As a comparison here is the 730 vs the 750, price is almost identical, performance is over double.

I agree with Matthew there; I wouldn't be surprised if the thread now filled up with agreements!
Unless you're going to be running multiple monitors, or have extremely high AA applied, or are running a 144Hz G-Sync monitor, then 4GB of vRAM isn't necessary, 2 is ample. Of course if your budget allows, and the price difference is now a lot lower than it used to be, then by all means go for a card with plenty!
