Hi everyone I'm having a little difficulty getting 3ds max 2016 settings correct, for example I've created some content for my route, just some simple station signs did the correct measurements (metres and Centimetres) but it always looks so gigantic in 3ds max and I have to keep scrolling out to view and select it all so I can export it out. I'm going to start making some train stations for my route next and obviously they will be x50 the size of a sign and will be a really faff scrolling out to edit and texture bits etc. Does anybody know where to go in the settings to sort this issue out so it doesn't look so big in the software and keep the measurements at metres and centimetres still so its easier to build and edit etc?
Cheers, Ian.

Re: 3ds max settings
I had the same problem when I first started. Thanks to the helpful guys at TrainSimDev they offered this solution. It worked for me so try this:
From the Customize menu select Units Setup
Enable the Generic button.
In the System Unit Setup sub menu
Select metres from the drop down box.
It should read 1 unit = 1.0
Hope this helps.

Re: 3ds max settings
I've got a screenshot of a test box I've just made (5m height, 5m width and 5m length) does that look like the correct size in 3ds max or should it appear bigger than this?
I did a test run by exporting it into Train Simulator 2016 (textured) and it looked tiny, half the height of a model car in gameplay. 5m in height is taller than a 10ft bridge for example.
I did everything you said in the instructions what am I doing wrong?
Cheers, Ian.
p.s I've got international as my units as I'm from the UK.

Re: 3ds max settings
Welcome to the world of trying to make ones own assets and tearing hair out as a result. It should be relatively easy or at least attainable with some application, but I've never known such a cranky set up. Like I said that simple tweak worked for me, and once it is working then you can peel them off like no tomorrow, it's just getting to that stage. If no one here can help further then I'd suggest signing up at TrainSimDev. Very helpful they are.

Re: 3ds max settings
I can't see anything wrong with the settings you have applied in your Max programme, so have to admit I don't know why it's not working.
Re: 3ds max settings
It ok I'll just have to use the scale feature instead once into gameplay.
