Re: Return of the Backdated North London Line
EXCELLENT. Thank you so much, this is fantastic, atmospheric, and darned brilliant!
A couple of (constructive) observations:
1. There seems to be a rather overbearing "bird cheeping" in the ambient sounds, at least the parts I've seen so far (outside Broad St and outside Richmond Station)
2. There seem to be no trains/locos installed in the Free Roam at the outset, as a result it is impossible to open it from the main TS2016 menu. I got in by editing the scenario from the Build Menu and added a couple of Class 415s in Richmond Station, so I'm good to go now. But others may not know to do this?
Great job, Xavier!
Chris

It's true that there are no trains to drive, but simply starting the scenario worked for me Chris...OK, nowt for me to do but it did load.chrisonline wrote:There seem to be no trains/locos installed in the Free Roam at the outset, as a result it is impossible to open it from the main TS2016 menu.

Re: Return of the Backdated North London Line
Strange, Gary, it showed up against the route as a Free Roam in the main menu, but showing no loco in the Train Name column (of course!) and with the "Start" and "Resume" buttons both grayed out and unselectable, so unable to load from that menu.gptech wrote:It's true that there are no trains to drive, but simply starting the scenario worked for me Chris...OK, nowt for me to do but it did load.chrisonline wrote:There seem to be no trains/locos installed in the Free Roam at the outset, as a result it is impossible to open it from the main TS2016 menu.

What's actually added Xavier?..... a .exe installer is bound to make quite a few folk wary, particularly as we tend to 'force feed' them the advice of 'be aware what changes are made to your system so you can revert them if necessary'.xguerra wrote:Shouldn't do. Should be fine. Nothing is deleted.

As in what's added by the installer in its entirety or what was updated?gptech wrote:What's actually added Xavier?..... a .exe installer is bound to make quite a few folk wary, particularly as we tend to 'force feed' them the advice of 'be aware what changes are made to your system so you can revert them if necessary'.xguerra wrote:Shouldn't do. In the case of what was updated it was one texture file, not overwriting any previously-installed files.
I could have packaged this update in a separate file but I thought it would have been more time-consuming for those who were downloading it first time.
Having set up the installer using install creator pro, I can say there is no instruction whatsoever to delete any files already present in a user's Train Simulator installation. No already-present files from other installations, nor any core windows files or registry are touched.
However I don't deny that some may be led to believe that saying that doesn't eradicate the possibility of a freak occurrence, but I'm reasonably confident in that not being the case.

Well, both would be nice but I appreciate that might be a long job, remembering exactly what you've used so a quick overview would probably be enough to quell any fears folk may have.xguerra wrote:As in what's added by the installer in its entirety or what was updated?
You say there's an updated texture; a pound to a penny there's at least one UKTS member now wondering if that's affected his default copy of the route so you see the need for some instructions/guidance?

Re: Return of the Backdated North London Line
- New .bin files for some NLL assets in separate folders called stations2, billboards2, clutter2, procedural2, lights2. Nothing already present from the NLL is overwritten.gptech wrote:Well, both would be nice but I appreciate that might be a long job, remembering exactly what you've used so a quick overview would probably be enough to quell any fears folk may have.xguerra wrote:As in what's added by the installer in its entirety or what was updated?

- A folder of my own NLL assets like station signs, a couple of benches and a signal box. Nothing overwritten there.
- A new .bin for the AP Station canopy. Separate from the already-existing file.
- Two modern station shelters
- A fixed distant signal
Everything else uses already-existing DLC assets and are not included in the installation, but some may be copied over to other directories such as those mentioned above.
The texture was a winter variant that did not exist in the NLL installation in the first place, thus not overwriting any files.
The installer and the files are safe and do not overwrite any already-existing files upon the first installation, nor is anything deleted while using the installer.
I've had testers try the route out before release to verify this.

The garden clutter pack is available from http://www.rwdecal.co.uk/free/index.php and may be freely packaged up with any freeware route.xguerra wrote:Yeah I suppose it's a little detail niggle but Garden clutter was a little hard to come by without breaking into loads of other DLC
