Crew
Hi,
Can anyone help, i have just purchased the DTG German BR86 loco and a fantastic model it is but it does not have any crew on the footplate,
Is there a way to place the crew on it from the Train simulator steam loco's,
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Roger.

Re: Crew
Adding crew is a *simple* edit to the loco's .bin file, adding the crew assets as 'child objects' but it's hard to believe that they've released a model without them.
What have you done to see if there's a crew there? Simply sticking the loco on the tracks may not immediately produce visible crew, it may depend on the loco being assigned a driver icon in a scenario.

Re: Crew
As the installation will have been automatic you can't have done anything to install it, and no loco will move without a driver assigned. If you're missing anything redownloading by either a verify or unticking the item in your steam library and then re-ticking after cutting it's folder out of the game will work.oskarfourzero wrote:Hi,

Re: Crew
The loco has been released without a crew, or so it would seem as none appear on the footplate of the player loco in the scenarios supplied with the DLC. Not as bad as releasing the Duchess of Hamilton in a state where it can only be driven in realistic mode because the train brake doesn't work in legacy mode but perhaps an indication that standards are slipping or the release schedule is overriding QA.gptech wrote:.....adding the crew assets as 'child objects' but it's hard to believe that they've released a model without them....

Re: Crew
So the next thing to do is see if the textures folder holds any files that could be for a crew, then have a look in the .bin to see if anything's referenced. It's still too early to start accusing anyone of having 'slipped' standards. Anyway, some body is bound to say the standards haven't slipped, they've always been low..... sorry if I've stolen anyone's moment of fun there.AndyUK wrote:The loco has been released without a crew, or so it would seem as none appear

Re: Crew
I have just had a look through the .bin file for this loco - it has 93 (yes 93) child objects including 12 sanders, lots of lights etc and includes the various 'sounds' as child objects. However no sign of a crew at all.
Strange?

Re: Crew
Yes, very strange Mike.
I was wondering about the possibility of the crew being part of the model itself, only 'leaping into existence' when a driver icon was assigned--there was something similar in the later models from that bloke we can't talk about.
Could somebody trawl through the .Geo and see if there's a clue in there?
I imagine the scripting's in .out format so that'll be of little use.

Re: Crew
Just added the loco to a scenario here and ran it, but no sign of any driver or fireman even after adding a driver icon to the loco.
Maybe added by a script in some of their own scenarios but I have not tried that.
It should be possible to add driver/fireman child items though from another of the German locos.

Re: Crew
Thanks Gents for the help, it spoils an otherwise great model and yet they make the door on the boiler open, which i can't say i have seen on any other loco, i suppose that would be ok if the loco is on shed ready to rake out the ash!!
Cheers,
Roger.
