Fictional GWR Route

Post by davvydo »

Hello,
I have been working on this route for about a month, hoping to release it onto steam workshop by next week or so. The route is set in North Cornwall and it is at the moment 2 miles long with 3 Stations. I hope I've captured the atmosphere of Cornwall as I've only been once there and that was back in 1999 :O
Starting at Penryn, where the route is named after. The line is called the Penryn Bay Steam Railway. Fictional story behind it goes like this....

Built in the early GWR days to serve the seaside resort of Penryn and Golden Sands, the line became popular with holidaymakers rivalling Torbay. However when WW2 broke out, the tourism ceased and was used to store ammunition trains and supply the newly set up army barracks at Penryn. At Golden Sands (the current terminus of the line seen in the 3rd picture) it was used heavily by the army also, defending our coastline from enemy planes, the Army pill boxes on the cliff tops still remain. When the war was over, the Army continued to run the railway up until the late 50's as a military run railway. In 1959 the line was signed over to BR and continued on but running at a continued loss owing to the war. In 1975 the line closed and the trackbed lifted. In 1978, the preservationists decided to reopen it. Set in the present day, we see the line Run from Penryn, calling at Wadeford and Golden Sands. Stopping just short of the Cliff Tunnel, all bricked up. Version 2 of my route will see it extended through to Port wenford.

Enjoying making fictional routes as I don't want the purists having nightmares :P
I shall upload more screenshots later, still haven't a clue how to insert images properly :( I used to be able to do it but totally forgotten now :P

No stock required, it's an empty route, blank canvas shall we say.

Looks great, downloaded with all the required add-ons.

Unfortunately wont let me play or edit, I get the loading screen and TS crashes to desktop with a dump file.

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Had to made a copy of the route for some reason, now working fine. Many thanks it's great!

I was worried something like that would happen! But I'm glad it's now working well and I appreciate the feedback. Version 2 will require the bulleid Q1 as I'm intending to build a war museum at the end of the line. And beyond the tunnel at the current terminus you can see the track bed beyond the tunnel but I will ease the curve more so it won't be too dangerous to drive along
