Oxford Paddington
This route is getting very long in the tooth, I notice there is a 2012 version in the UKTS library by Keith, and some in the Steam Workshop.
Are any of these worth having ? It's a real shame because I'm sure Ive seen mentions of updates (and extensions) in this forum but nothing happened.
Did any get to Heathrow or past Swindon ?
Second quick question, with these old routes, I sometimes get black scenery, what was the fix for this ?
Many thanks

Re: Oxford Paddington
There was someone here doing a rebuild and extension a couple of years ago but he hasn't been on for ages.
Apart from the non electrified versions on the workshop and the one on here I don't know if and any others.

Re: Oxford Paddington
It would be great if someone was to electrify it completely so then we could run the Hitachi trains along it, as is the intention in the real world if ever the electrification gets completed.

Re: Oxford Paddington
There is a fantastic extension to Swindon on this 1970s era rendition of the route - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... earchtext=
Although to be honest there are enough similarities to warrant modern era scenarios if that is more of your thing. (Ignoring that due to it's era there are no wires on this route of course).
[shameless self promotion]Also, I am planning to extend my backdated 1950s/ early 60s version of the Oxford - Paddington route once I have completed V1.[/shameless self promotion]

Promote away this sounds fantastic. I have been wanting to see a steam era version of this route but never thought we would.GWRKINGCLASS wrote:

Be great to drive the new Riviera Steamers out of Paddington also trying to keep time with a prairie on Reading/Paddington stopping services.

Re: Oxford Paddington
I'm a tester for someone who is doing an updated Oxford-Paddington.
Based on 'how-it-is-now' with the new Reading station and flyover.
Track currently is from Paddington-Reading-Didcot-Swindon,
Didcot-Oxford, Reading-Bedwyn and Reading-Basingstoke.
It is hoped to get to Bath and Bristol from Swindon, and to
Westbury from Bedwyn, and the connecting lines (Bath to
Westbury for example).

That's encouraging to hear, haven't run along this route for absolutely ages! Doesn't get my juices flowing like trent valley does.davep wrote:I'm a tester for someone who is doing an updated Oxford-Paddington.

Re: Oxford Paddington
I think that the organist is referring to the project that 'jivebunny' was undertaking. This was a wholesale rework of the route, as I recall, with extensive modifications to Paddington but, alas, he called a ' stop' to it for private reasons IIRC.
A great pity he was unable to finish it or pass it on to some of the very good route builders who have emerged in the meantime.

That sounds amazing, I must admit the thought of being able to drive Paddington - Bristol is a BIG attraction and in Steam era, thats great by me.
Yes great shame about jivebunny, and the APT he was working on too I think.
Thanks for all the replies.
Trent Valley ? I thought about it, but decided no as it seems to go from nowhere to nowhere, aplogies to everyone north of Watford, but I like my routes to start ( or end) in London. Sorry.

Re: Oxford Paddington
Yes, I thought that it was a boring route before release, but it is so amazingly detailed and real life I'm glad I bought it, The 350 is amazing and I am mighty impressed with it overall.johnrossetti wrote:>>updated Oxford-Paddington.

Yes that was it, by Jivebunny. There was a long thread and it was fascinating to watch the progress and the effort and detail that went into it. IIRC he was planning to do a back dated version later.jetstream wrote:I think that the organist is referring to the project that 'jivebunny' was undertaking. I look forward with interest in the steam era version and the new updated modern versions which have been mentioned.

Re: Oxford Paddington
Likewise, am involved in the testing of this. A HUGE amount of work is involved in the assets etc so it wont be via Steam Workshop I dont think. But if Richard does lurk here he may be willing to post a link to the FB group but it is a closed group so I will leave to him to do. I am sure he does frequent on here.davep wrote:I'm a tester for someone who is doing an updated Oxford-Paddington.

Re: Oxford Paddington
Thanks for the replies, interesting times,
I saw that reference to the German Website, that update is dated about the same time as Keith Ross's version on this site, any major differences ?
Cheers
