How to create a simple scenario marker?

Post by JasVick »

Hi folks,

Can anyone help me by creating a simple scenario marker which purley sends a signal to the train in effect, and then tell me how to script my scenario to read it? I am wondering if it's possible to use it as a location detection which can be used to enhance scripts by increasing counts when encountered during the journey.

Thanks in advance, any help will be very much appreciated. :D

Do you mean a lineside location detection trigger for a script rather than a destination/siding marker?

I've not seen the voyager one, I've seen the lineside PIS/TMS markers on the WCML TV route for the 350's.
Is this the kind of thing?
Not sure how you place them, you can manipulate them in scenario mode but I haven't a clue how to place them- I've been through everything!
think I've had a look in route mode too, couldnt see anything.
Not sure if it triggers lua script by changing the values yet.

Hi,

Yes that's what I'm looking for. They are placed in the scenario editor but invisible in the game. There is a way to read them but not been able to work out a how you send a message from them and b how you get the train ( or in this case the scenario script) to receive the message and react once it has. For ease I was aiming at trying to get something scripted through the scenario rather than jiggle around with the trains lua files, particularly as its not easy to edit them these days with out files being used instead. Having a variable that increased every time the train passed over a particular marker seems a better alternative and makes more possibilities available, as the script could be copied and used for any scenario I guess.

Thanks....

Yes, you got it one, an invisible trigger. I looked at the WCML TV route because of the PIS plus some scenarios trigger a TMS action. I found the script and the lineside marker, but couldn't figure out the trigger. I only had a few minutes looking at it so I'll look into it further at weekend.
