Hi
They sometimes ran tender first hauling a train to NA,other times 2 or 3 would run light loco to NA,Goodrington locomotives would have gone to Newton Abbot.locomotives returning would either double head trains running tender first,or run light loco tender first,
As far as I can remember it was only locomotives going to Kingswear that were serviced there.

I think some trains changed engines at Newton Abbot on the down working and ran tender first in readiness for the return journey.

Paul
Please take a look at my photos of steam, buses and diesels etc

One of my photos shows a King leaving Newton Abbot tender first on the Kingswear portion of the Cornishman in September 1960.

You can see it on Google+

or there is a better quality version on Facebook

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

That is correct, Newton Abbot was very busy especially on Summer Saturdays with engine changes for the Paignton Services and Pilot locomotives being attached for the run over the banks to Plymouth.

I am trying to made a scenario where you drive tender first to Paignton then run round and drive to Exeter but I am having trouble with the running round at Paignton there is a point switched against me which derails the loco.
