I run G-Sync using an Acer XB280HK 4K monitor connected to a GTX 970. Of all the spending I've done in an attempt to improve Railworks, this had the most impact. G-Sync gives silky smooth motion with zero tearing or jitter. Even when the framerates fall in dense areas, the motion remains stable and smooth. I definitely recommend it. Be advised though that it only works with Nvidia cards , GTX650 or above. So don't go out and buy the monitor only to find yourself doing an unplanned upgrade to your video card ( as I had to do! ) to make it all work.

The Nvidia control panel settings are all at the defaults.

A big advantage of running at 4K resolution is that the tiny pixels don't show the jaggies as much. Anti-Aliasing isn't needed. So in TS2015 ( I haven't upgraded yet ), I have Anti-Aliasing off, and all the other settings at max.

I will be coming from a five year old 42" 1080p 60hz hdtv Ive tried every setting possible to reduce tearing does G-SYNC work at lower frame rates say 20 to 30 fps

sorry to be a pain but 500 quid is a lot to drop on a monitor but by the sounds of it worth every penny even if its a smaller screen than im used to

Instead of the monitor skipping frames or tearing frames when the GPU falls behind, a G-Sync monitor just slows down to keep the proper pace. The technology is so simple but effective.

At 20 fps its still rock solid and silky smooth. You hardly know the frame rates have fallen. At 15 fps, there's still no tearing, but you begin to notice the stutter.

I agree with what wac says wrt to GSync.
I run 2 GSync Monitors one AOC and one ASUS ROG.
With both good stutter free frame rates from 15 fps up.

Looks interesting but that is an awful lot of dough! I don't think I have been sufficiently good enough for santa to give me one? :-? Also been tempted by the master chief collection on xbox one, Argos are selling a combo pack for just under £300!

Yeah, it's a sizable investment...but....(purely for TS in it's present form) many have spent as much, if not more, on one of the extremely high end graphics cards in an attempt to achieve superb visuals and smooth gameplay, but some haven't been as successful as the price tag suggests. For anybody look to upgrade or replace their existing kit, a G-Sync monitor and a reasonable graphics card (thinking of 960 upwards here, something with a decent amount of grunt but not needing illegal activities to afford) is a very viable alternative to blowing the cash on a GPU that offers more 'oomph' than the game can call on. I'd certainly consider a G-Synch monitor very seriously if I was in a position to upgrade. Perhaps we should petition Santa, put a bit of pressure on???
