BTB Route Problem

Post by welshdragon »

Hello All,

I have my MSTS installed as per Steam4me tutorial and I recently fired up an activity via Train Store and I get the following Error's ;-

routes\BTB\Textures\Spring\lime19,22_1.ace

Global\Textures\ukfs_rail.ACE
Global\Textures\ukfs_track.ACE
Global\Textures\ukfs_sleepers.ACE
Global\Textures\ukfs_track1.ACE

All are present but show as Error when loading. All other routes that use ukfs work OK.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Regards
Alan

Hi Alan,
BTB is such a large route you could be running in to a resource problem, best thing to do is addjust your sliders, turn down from best graphics to best performance, leave textured sky, water, checked,un check the rest.
Even doing that you can still get the problem, how much ram have you got, better still can you tell us your computer specification please

Hi Mike,

Thanks for replying.

I have run this route for some time together with MEP, NWE V3, Glasgow-Carlisle V4, BrisCard, Thames-Mersey V 4.3, Cambrian, Severn Valley & Woking to Basingstoke without any problems and only last week BTB was running OK.

I have upgraded to Win 10 but that was in August and on Average I get between 41-53 FPS on all Routes & find it very stable, no CTD & even NWE & MEP will run for 20 minutes without a save so far & I intend trying to see how long they will run. I am going to try reinstalling BTB & see ow it goes. I don't understand why BTB is throwing up the Errors when all the files are present.

Spec as below :-
PC System - Processor Intel(R) Core TM i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz 2.66GHz
Installed memory (RAM) 6.00GB
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285

Hi Alan
Have you added any thing new to MSTS after you last ran it?

Did you check each new route with Route Riter after installing it?

Hi Mike & lateagain,

I have added The Tunnel Route and no I have not checked the route with Route Riter.

I have deleted the BTB route and reinstalled it and so far have the three default activities installed, so far so good. I intend to reinstall all the other activities that I have from the Download Library one at a time and see what happens.

Many thanks for the replies.

Hi Alan,

You're a few steps ahead of me.... Doing exactly the same thing on a new box. So far I'm only up to the Steam4Me install (completed) and looking at all the stuff that that tutorial doesn't cover. There are so many improvements we (who had full installs for years) take for granted and looking at a tested error free default install shows just how many other tweaks and utilities are missing.

Unlike you (?) I'm now a dedicated Mini Route user. My aim therefore is to set up as highly "tweaked and patched" a default set up as possible. I then back that up and copy and paste it into a folder to create new Mini Routes in.

There's nothing wrong with Train Store but I found that errors crept in with various add-on's that became very difficult to trace in multi route, multi stock installations of MSTS. With Mini Routes anything you add to a specific route has zero effect on any other route. That makes fault and error finding much simpler. You can point RR and Con Builder at ANY specific installation including Mini Routes. That makes error tracking much easier.

Sadly many new routes or add-ons require the DEFAULT stuff for various odds & ends whilst in reality there's nothing that hasn't been done better many times over? The two Japanese routes never developed into anything useful. The UK route has been done better at least twice. The Orient Express Route never got developed (although there are excellent Swiss and Austrian add-ons) and both the US routes have been improved and uploaded in numerous versions. Basically it's a pain to have to start with the DEFAULT stuff because the routes are abandoned or bettered, ALL of the stock is unusable by todays standards so it only leaves a few default files that need to be there for instal.bats.

However I run checks with RR and ConBuilder after ANY new install. Faults don't go away so it's better to find them ASAP.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the reply, it makes interesting reading and the other thing I also find is things vary from one PC to another. I have another desktop that has XP installed and I never get a moments trouble running MSTS on it.

Hi Alan, that's why with my new computer I had XP installed in it as well as the supplied Win 7 and I certainly have no intention of
changing the way it is when I do have to buy a new computer in the future.

Hello All

Now this is strange ; all the above listed .ace files with some of the Activities other than the default three, initially come up as 'Error's unable to find' but if I keep clicking 'YES' they eventually go away and the Activity loads OK, no white blanked out area's and so far so good, ran from New Street to Worcester without any saves or stutters.

Cheers
