Oh joyous day, I can hardly contain my excitement. How very underwhelming, yet another capital centric route........yipee.

Yes just like the Trent Valley Line, West Highland South, Riviera line and the Weardale Route .

Of course you can choose not to purchase it.

I personally am looking forward to it.

It's the Gospel Oak to Barking line, which branches off the NLL, but is unlikely to be included in this TS route.

Hmmm, we don't know what is being built yet, hopefully they'll give us both the Stratford and Barking lines from Gospel Oak, then we'll have a bit more scope for trains. If they put a few sidings and yards in we can run freights from Barking/Stratford across to Willesden and down to Acton Jnct, plenty of opportunities for lots of different types. I'll make it into a 1980s looking layout to tie in with my WTT's then I can really enjoy myself......Bring it on DTG don't keep us waiting too long.

I completely understand the sentiment although, after you've released most of the more famous 'named' routes in the UK, I suppose the biggest selling point is London.

I don't know the line but having taken a quick look on Google Earth, the prospect of multi-stop commuter services like South London Network (one of my favourites) appeals to me.

Besides being a commuter route it is also a major freight route as well,not sure how much of the is included,but if starts at Richmond,from there to Gunnersbury you also have London Underground District Line,from Kew Junction freight trains start using the route from the old South Western division,from Acton,freight trains from the Western Region,Willesden Junction,trains from the,West Coast mainline join,further round there are links to the East Coast main line,until it ends up at Stratford.
In the past up until the 1960's freight trains used to go to the London Docks and until the Docklands Light rail way was built passenger trains went beyond Stratford.
The most interesting time to have it really would be the 1950/60/70's there was a lot more inter regional fright trains.

You can't blame DTG for wanting to make money!

Personally, I don't think I'm too interested in this route, but there's a lot of logic in doing routes in London, as there will be a lot of interest among the millions of people who use the line, and if it ends in a main line terminus then probably most people in the UK will have used it at some point in there lives, not to mention foreign tourists.

I don't know about others, but I'm most likely to buy routes that I've got some personal connection with.

The North London line was built purposely for freight trains to bypass London,so no City Terminus on this route,it's starting point is in West London suburb of Richmond and finishes in East London suburb of Stratford,where the old Temple mills marshalling yard was.

I am genuinely glad you, as well as no doubt may others will be looking forward to this, that however does not, and will not change my lack of enthusiasm for it, nor should it prohibit me from expressing my opinion, albeit pedantically. I actually live in hope that the entire nework will eventually be covered, but even this doesn't mean I will be enthused by each section produced

However, as I have mentioned above that should not prohibit me from expressing my lack of enthusiasm for something I simply cannot get excited about.

You have every right to say it, I was just pointing out the DTG's last four releases haven't been London centric, in fact they haven't even been close to it. I believe the last one was the South London Network which was at least a year ago.

The North London lines are quite an interesting strategic route, although I too would have preferred them to be dated 30 years earlier.

Maybe some one could back date it in steam workshop once it's released,just imagine Temple Mills in it's hay day of the 50\60's,I suppose a lot depends from where it starts and ends,ideally the best place to start would be Wilesden Junction to Stratford Temple Mills
Also in an earlier period there were not only passenger trains from Richmond there were also Trains from Watford that used the North London to Broad Street which for younger members was next to Liverpool Street Station

I think I will get this route as it's a good connecting line across North London.
There should be opportunity to run a good variety of freight scenarios across the route as it gets traffic off the Southern region, GWML, WCML, MML, ECML at two locations and on to the GEML.

It will be interesting to see how much of the route gets modelled.

Ideally the best place to start would be Kew Junction where the Southern joins it from the Hounslow Loop,and should end at Stratford on the Great Eastern mainline,or at least Willesden Junction to get the right feel of the route and where ever it starts it should end at Stratford otherwise to me it's not really the North London Line,but I have a feeling it will only be either Gospel Oak or Camden to Dalston Junction .

I echo some of the boredom with this route, there are still so many better routes they could have done, rather than more London commuter routes. Here's hoping they've got the North Wales Coast coming up somewhere...
