Yes, you may be right, Holz. However the sound I am talking about is heard every 10 seconds, while John says his sounds every several minutes or so. Quite a difference.

On the contrary I do not believe that you could not notice any diference after you changed the proxyxml files, John... As a test you could try to delete the 1116_SPUS_MR.dav file (or better move it somewhere else) and then see if you can hear the difference...

Well,
well, it would seem I have already removed, "1116_SPUS_MR.dav" see attachment. Not aware of when or how that has happened.
Which I suppose means we are talking about different sounds. I'll get some more info to-gether on the one which bothers me.

If you look in your \RWAustria_2\Austria_RailVehicles\Common\Sounds\OEBB_Taurus\Cab folder you might find the file - that's where mine is.

Ah, so it is, thanks.
OK once more round the mulberry bush. I'll remove this file and see if that makes a difference to me.

Now to ensure we are all talking from the same hymn sheet.
Rout 3CCC/scenario Bludenz -St Anton.
Ctr+Shift+Z auto start-up / Ctrl+Shift+A & S
Attachments show modded folders as per guidance above.
Correction the sound that I am hearing is every ten to fifteen secs ( Time flies when your having fun). The time delay seems also to be speed dependent. As on approach to St Anton as I slowed down, the dwell time between venting became progressively longer.
Its similar to the sound coming from the O/H air conditioning vents on aircraft. Sounds like a pressurized system being vented for a duration of 3-4 secs then being abruptly stopped via a valve being closed.
This is happening after carrying out all the above mods and clearing all the blueprints prior to restarting RW and selecting the 3cc route and scenario.
So are we talking the same sound or am I still chasing my tail?

I've not done any of the mods myself but when I was tracing a sound I used Dav Decoder to make a copy of individual .dav files in to .wav files which you can play outside the game.

(the picture is wrong) :)

Hi Peter,
tried this tool and managed to convert a .dav to a .wav file. This I then saved with a title "Trial" to a desktop folder. I then played it using a D/L free .wave player. So far so good.
But when I tried to do the same thing for yet another .dav file. For some reason it would not save the new file into the same desktop folder. Cannot figure out why this is happening.

Is there anything new known about this update? It's several months already and no word...

Rumors say that the one who did the whole scripting had to go to the austrian Military Service. So he had no time
