AP Class 66 Sound Pack Pro brake release

Post by casrtt »

Should you be able to hear the sound of the train brake release with this sound pack. The only brake sounds I can hear is if you use the loco brake.
All other sounds and features are fine. Am I looking for something not present in this sound pack.

The train brake release outside is very quiet as can be heard in the trailer at https://youtu.be/Bwbq8EkT-mE?t=1m24s. If the engine is revving at the higher idle speed, you probably won't hear it at all. It should be more audible within the cab though.

I've tried the Default FL Class 66 light loco in a quick drive. With engine on normal idle there's no audible train brake release sound outside or inside the cab. Only the loco brake sound can be heard.
I had a look in the AP assets for the Class 66 and there is a train brake release dav file present. All the other features and sounds are working fine.
Should I try reinstalling the pack.

Are you releasing from a full application? If releasing from a light application, you probably won't hear anything as the sound fades the closer you get towards release.

If the problem persists, please e-mail using the Contact Us form on our website so I can investigate properly.

That thread is about the release of the sound pack and the only brake problem is someone asking about releasing the emergency brake after it's been applied.
My problem is the lack of any sound from the train brake. Perhaps I should worded the thread title better.
What I was after was for members of UKTS who have this sound pack installed to advise me if they have this sound or not. If not there is a problem with the sound pack, if they do, then I have a problem with my installation.

The cab train brake release dav is a silent loop ! ? I swapped and renamed the C60P cab train brake release and it works perfectly. :D

Ok sorry I misread your post :) but, when the emergency brakes are on you can hear a hissing sound from inside the cab, not that loud so have the throttle on idle.

For anyone wondering, this is a video that is mounted via GoPro to a GBRf drivers head while he drives a 66. Skip to 8:20 to watch a brake application (there will be many more, but you'll have to watch the whole thing). As you can see, AP has got the physics and sounds of the brakes as near as we're going to get in this simulator. Well done AP. I waited for this pack for a very long time. Also to nsichan (hope I spelled that right). As I bugged him for many months over the 66 physics, and I know some of the AP pack is his hard work too.

This video is hosted by YouTube, a site which is outside of the editorial control of UKTrainSim and as such Parental Control is strongly advised.

No problem with the emergency brake or locomotive brake both have sound. My problem is there is no sound from the train brake at all. I just wanted other people who have this sound pack to check if they have train brake sounds.
This will confirm if it's a sound pack problem or a problem with my installation.
The class 66 has two brakes locomotive and train. The train brake is the one in the HUD.
