Have you unticked a lot of content in the DLC tab in properties? Maybe it has reinstalled some stuff you didn't use anyway, I have unticked all USA and Euro content as it doesn't interest me, but if I ever do verify (I think) this content will be downloaded again?Trev123 wrote:Just ran it and had approx. 18,000 files 1.4gb needed to be reinstalled.

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
the first question you should have been asked is "Why?"Trev123 wrote:Just ran it......
If you'd lost data because of a PC problem, or even fallen victim to the most dangerous of all dangers facing a PC (user error---been there, done that, wearing a T-shirt and the other's in the wash) it would be no surprise that you had a big chunk of files *missing*
Of course *missing* does include "couldn't be checked because network congestion caused the operation to time out" and "old version detected, new file to follow"
Whilst it seems a very big number, 18,000 of 'em to equate to a total size of 1.4GB means the average file size was/is a mere 80Kb or so, which suggests that there hasn't been a major problem so I'm going with a 'timed out' operation.

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
Why because half my scenarios were not working. Missing rail vehicles scenery etc from routes that I use to be able to run. This started to happen about the time of the JT Kyle Line update and had missing Class 37 BR Blues which I had. They are now working plus some other scenarios that were not. I don't go doing verify caches just for the sake of it.

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
Hi,
Yes I had the same problem straight after updating the JT Kyle Line, most of my scenario's which required the class 37 would not load.
A verify game cache solved the problem, I think my file total was about 10,000 cant remember the size in Mb.
Everything now working fine, I can't remember when I last did a verify cache before this one certainly over a year.
Interesting to know how many other members also had this problem after the JT update.
Regards,
Pete.

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
I have a problem with the blue class 37 going missing on some scenarios , I think this has happened since d/loading JT Kyle add on, I have re downloaded It but it has made no difference,
in fact the blue 37 with snow ploughs has also disappeared from a Shap scenario. I have checked the assets files and the blue 37 seems to be present. If I verify via steam do I stand to lose add ons or does it just verify the kuju files.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
Isnt it because every time you run a route or scenario you physically change how the file structure looks..And because the way the game handles its files isnt very sophisticated at communicating that to steam it thinks more files are broken than really are/ if indeed any are at all..It just wants to reset everything to default which is why you have to re install all those third party things like AP etc

I was wondering if there was another way round it, I dread the thought of finding and re downloading everything I have purchased and downloaded.

Have you got a backup copy of your TS installation?

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
Funny you should ask that, I actually cloned the disk that Train Sim was on this morning, I have looked through the assets folder and the kuju blue 37 is showing in the folder, tried transferring into the original disk , it shows but when a scenario is loaded it tells me its missing. I also have a back up of the assets folder from some time ago.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
You wouldn't lose addons; the verify operation checks the assets and routes you've acquired through Steam, any 3rd party stuff won't get deleted. However, if you've applied things such as an Armstrong Powerhouse sound pack to RSC/DTG assets then those will be reverted back to the default state.chris higgin wrote:If I verify via steam do I stand to lose add ons or does it just verify the kuju files.
As Andy has said keeping a backup is the best way of going about things.
I take it you didn't have a backup either?Trev123 wrote:I don't go doing verify caches just for the sake of it.

Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
In which case the *missing* stuff must be present in your working copy, although both versions will have any errors also duplicated so copying from a suspect source isn't all that useful.chris higgin wrote:Funny you should ask that, I actually cloned the disk that Train Sim was on this morning
chris higgin wrote:but when a scenario is loaded it tells me its missing
Can you check the scenario with RW Tools and report the path to the *missing* item(s) ? -- "Missing" not only means "not on this disc", but also "not in the place the scenario is looking for it in" so it's possible that some/many of the missing items are just mis-referenced. The simple renaming of a .bin file, Class37.bin to Class37_copy.bin for example, will flag that particular class 37 as missing. The JT Kyle Line installer adds reskins to the default class 37 folders so it looks as if that has somehow gone boobs up and instead of simply copying .Geos it's renamed or removed the default stuff.
I've every faith in JT testing the installer before release, and as it will likely be just another version of the ones they've used before it indicates a possible problem with certain systems or configurations of hardware/software/security settings.
Re: Verify Integrity Of Game Cache.
I ran into all sorts of trouble this past week since the update, no scenario utilising UK Pro signals would work. Tried install from backup, unticking and ticking back a lot of DLC and then a verify. I've sady had to go for the full reinstall. But I am pragmatic and glad that I plumped for the 100Mb connection to be installed in the new place now!!
And don't fear, I THINK I got all projects and source stuff safe before the delete.
