Re: 'TOP TEN TS2016 MYTHS' article on Engine Driver site
DT are replying to questions on their facebook reveal of the 'mythbusters' page. One reply to a question caught my eye:
'Question': "Would also be good to be able to create characters based on "Create a Sim" program?"
Reply: "Great idea, though probably not in '16. There may be the option of controlling things that aren't necessarily Trains however..."
Perhaps the option to 'walk' around the scenery has been added, ala Active Camera for FSX, or the driver in Subway Simulator.
Multiplayer is still out though, which is a shame:
"No, much as the prospect of multiplayer has been talked of in the office, we have no plans to implement it any time soon."
And there's even a little bit of humour in there, which made me chuckle:
User statement: #stillnocastlevariants
Reply: "TS16 will be ONLY castle variants. Even the scenery."

I do believe it refers to the statement, when the GWR castle was released that more variants of the locomotive would be released in the marketplace, something which has, as far as I know, yet to occur.vlado960 wrote:Can someone tell me what is the meaning of 'castle variants'?Electricfox wrote:TS16 will be ONLY castle variants. DAMN just 3 days ago -
I Bought Woodhead in anticipation for TS2016 - not realising I NEEDED to buy TS2016 - we are a poor family unlike some of you on here and I have to choose what I can spend my limited funds on - I saw WOODHEAD reduced to a bargain price of £12 and thought that will look loverly on the new upgrade this weekend. Indulged myself to find it now have TS2015 still and that the real TS2016 included a new route to play on BUT - you had to buy it!!.
Very uncomfortable feeling - would have been ok IF I knew the latest offering was NOT going to be a free upgrade like usual. As it is I feel let down and hard done to!!

Your game has been upgraded to TS2016 spec. It should play Woodhead and any other DLC fine. All you are missing by not buying TS2016 is the new content and some cosmetic changes to the interface.

As usual, you've received a free upgrade to the core software so you effectively have TS2016 technology.RedTez wrote:would have been ok IF I knew the latest offering was NOT going to be a free upgrade like usual
As usual, any content bundled with the new version that you don't already own needs to be purchased separately, or as in the case of the Riviera 50s route at this moment in time you'd need to purchase the full retail version of TS2016---as this is about the same price as a route it makes no odds.
If you'd read the forum over the past month or so you probably wouldn't have had any doubts about what was included in which version of the game so it could be said that at least 50% of your confusion is down to you.
Re: 'TOP TEN TS2016 MYTHS' article on Engine Driver site
I can understand people's confusion over this update. Content aside, i.e. additional rolling stock and routes, isn't this the first time that the base sim hasn't been upgraded to the same standard irrespective of whether or not the new version has been purchased?

Well it's not a myth that I seem to have read miles of web pages and still do not know what at a BASE GAME LEVEL, forget scenerey and stock, what the actual difference in TS2016 between a free upgrade and a £29.99 (£24.99) upgrade is.

Different loading screen. Menus a different colour. And that's about it.
