Southampton to London Waterloo route! :D

Post by 47522 »

Wow the Southampton to London Waterloo route looks very good!
I'm being stupid here but please don't forget the station Eastligh and its yard.
A very kind driver let me go around the works in one of their 08's.
Also what about Southampton's Freightliner depot will this be included?
At a later date could it be run from Southampton to Woking then from Woking go to Aldershot and Alton?
Sorry if I'm being a bit picky seeing that the route has only just been uploaded, i travel to Eastligh for all the trains and my Dad goes up to Southampton for the aircraft, it would be good to retrace our steps.
My dad has FS2002 to fly into Southampton, i will be able to drive our usual route to Eastligh! :D

Matt

Hi Deltic2002,
I have downloaded the route!
Do you know if you need all of the magnetic platform kits installed?
I have kit one, do you need the rest?

Well it says on the download info page "You must have UKFinescale track V3, and the magnetic platform kit, both available here at UKTrainsim, for the route to work".

So I'd assume that it means you just have to have UK Finescale V3 installed, plus the download called "magnetic platform kit". Doesn't sound like you need several differenet magnetic platform kits.

Magnetic Platforms are installed to the Global\Shapes folder.Textures go to the route\Textures folder.

No ref file entries needed. They actually appear as road sections in RE.

Also use latest tsection.dat file (v00017).

There are four magnetic platform kits, viz. curves and straights, white, marble, and asphalt: 47522 asked a very reasonable question considering he/she has only kit 1.

I wasn't being funny towards 47522 in my response. I was simply saying what I thought, in that it sounds like you only need the one file called "magnetic platform kit", especially in the download info page it says"You must have UKFinescale track V3, and the magnetic platform kit, both available here at UKTrainsim". So it sounds like you only need 2 additional downloads.

Just had a look at the platforms downloads and there is only file that matches that description and that being "'Magnetic' Platform Kit I"

In other words the uploader either made a spelling mistake or only used one of the kits.

I think the readme file for the route could be a bit more clearer and informative. I don't know if you have to download other platform kits, a walls and fences kit or what.

I've just tried installing it with justing using the suggested UK Finescale and the 'magnetic platform kit' but have now seem to have lost the 'Install Me' icon, so I'll now have to re-download the whole thing. Will have to leave it for another day now.

Don't do that - surely its still in the ZIP; and if not I can email it to you to save you downloading the whole lot again!

Incidently I had trouble unpacking the files with XP's built-in unzipper - it kept bombing out part way thorough with no error message, just a "ding!" It eventaully worked.

Incidently, a genaral comment, the textures weren't supplied as part of the route - so which of the four should we choose for authenticity? Wood or concrete, brown or grey ballast?

I think I'll go for wood, brown for starters. :)
