It is a reskin in several AP extra stock packs. Although stock packs can bve downloaded for free, I don;t think any will now work unless you have the sound pack that they are associated with.aussiebob wrote:I have downloaded the Route as well as the rolling stock, unable to run any of the included scenarios without having a class 158DMS RREX.
Does anyone know where I can obtain this from. Cheers.
However:
1) easy to swap using RW_Tools
2) even without swapping, when the scenario opens and shows the error "cannot load . . .", just press F2 and save progress, it will then run OK. The 158 is only really "AI scenery" and doesn't affect the running of the NG trains.

Thanks Chris very much appreciated, scenarios now work fine by pressing F2 and saving on this lovely Route.
Cheers.

Re: Jolly Good Fun ... Narrow Gauge rails in North Wales
You're welcome. The F2 trick is always worth trying on any route, whenr you get a loading error (and/or tracks.bin errors). It works here because the DMU plays no active part in terms of interacting with the driver train. However it won't work (on other routes etc) where the unloadable stock has some direct or indirect effect on the user train's journey, because the missing stock causes the intended scenario progress to be interfered with or even completely stopped (e.g. where the AI train has to clear a path or signals to allow the user train to proceed) - or, of course, where the missing stock is actually the user train itself!aussiebob wrote:Thanks Chris very much appreciated, scenarios now work fine by pressing F2 and saving on this lovely Route.

Just to say that the Ffestiniog England Engines pack is now ready for download
Thanks to Xuerra & ThePhantomPhish for testing these for me and adding various comments and files
As always provide feedback of any problems.
Also a set of simple cloned scenarios to show off the locos.
Thanks
Steve

And very nice they are too! Had good fun with these earlier.
Really nice job, and I especially like the difference in whistles between Palmerston & Prince/Welsh Pony. They're ideal for shuffling a few coaches around at St Bilton on my all-NG Phorum Penninsula Modification...

Re: Jolly Good Fun ... Narrow Gauge rails in North Wales
Hi Everyone,
I'm pleased to see that the route is still getting good feedback and that thanks to the excellent work of the Digital Mechanical Engineers that the rolling stock stable is bigger and better than ever!
With regards to all the recent exchanges about the RREX 158, I've been trying with my (nowadays limited) TS time to eradicate the inadvertant reskin. The purple 158 requires a slight suspension of disbelief but I think I've swapped the right lines of text so that it won't be an issue in future. Once I finally finish creating and testing an expended scenario pack, which will include some runs for the England Engines and a few other bits and pieces, I think it will be easier to release everything as a full updated scenario pack with the original scenarios included but corrected. I'll do this once I have had time to test the new ones, re-test the old ones, and make sure everything works properly!
The F2 is mostly a good work-around in the meantime, although there is one scenario that I wrote where a BR train can potentially interact with the NG service
!
*Mild irritation expression follows*
Whilst I carry on with that work, I do note the hint about Blanche, to which the following:
I think that it is great that Sem34090 has hinted that he is taking on such a project! I really look forward to seeing progress with that, as it will make a change from him constantly requesting his personal wishlist from those of us who have our own ideas about what we would like to create, and when. It will be great to see that project develop to compliment the hard work of Steve P and XGuerra who have produced such wonderful rolling stock without hints or suggestion (other than between us working on those projects). Hey, Sem, you could even do Linda too, and Charles whilst you're at it. Great news indeed - or were you asking someone else to do it all for you, again, as so many times elsewhere on these fora?
*Irritation expressed, back to my actual post*
More positively though, thanks again to everyone for supporting this route and rolling stock through positive comments and feedback, a lot of love has gone into all this and it is great that so many people are enjoying the results!
More news as and when, and do please keep the feedback coming!!

Re: Jolly Good Fun ... Narrow Gauge rails in North Wales
Hi,
I have got drawings for Linda, Blanche and Charles and am intending to incorporate them into my gradually expanding, though admittedly not yet available, range of 3D Printed Locomotive bodies for railway modelling purposes. As I am doing the CAD for these purposes, I am beginning to explore the possibility of using this CAD as the basis for Train Sim models, however this is rather far off as my main priority is begninng to get test prints of each loco body then offer it for sale.
I did not, however intend to wishlist here! I experimented with a wishlist poll elsewhere, which was by no means a personal wishlist, but I think the confusion arises from my changing of my username at the end of some of my posts. It's just something I've done on occasion to suit the topic being discussed. It's normally a number change (34090 may become 46100, for example) but as I don't know FR/WHR/NWNGR Numbers, I did the names of some of the locos instead. I think I should stop this, admittedly almost childish in some ways, practice at any rate to avoid confusion both here and elsewhere.
I understand the point made, and that I may have inadvertantly asked or mused about one or two things that I would like to see from others. As I said, the 'wishlist poll' idea was NOT my personal wishlists bundled up, as that defeats the object of a poll! If it had been a personal wishlist it would've been every Narrow Gauge and Southern Railway loco not yet produced! As it was I was more curious to see if the idea of a poll would hold any appeal for simmers, and it appears perhaps the idea isn't all that popular.
As I have taught myself 3D CAD for my 3D printing projects, I am slowly starting to investigate ways of producing content for train simulator. I appreciate more than I did previously what a complex process this is, and have great admiration for those who produce such fantastic content as the George England 0-4-0STT's (And indeed all of Steve's & XGuerra's other great locos!).
As I have said previously, the FR/WHR is truely fantastic route, and one I'd be more than happy to pay for! It really is an incredible piece of modelling, and one I think is a credit to all involved. You say that a lot of love has gone into the route, and it really is evident in the final product!
All the best,
sem34090

Don't sweat it, I'm sure Steve and Steve have plenty to get on with.
(Though I do have my own little wishlist and I may now and again give Steve a little nudge........

Hi
Just to say there is a new release pack for the England Engines that contains a few bug-fixes that we have discovered since original release
Simply download and double click the Install file.
It will overwrite the original packages
You can uninstall the original if you prefer and maintain a clean install on your PC

Re: Jolly Good Fun ... Narrow Gauge rails in North Wales
Ok so as an avid Ffestiniog fan from family vacations in the 70s and 80s I have downloaded this.
Seems to require a heck of a lot of 3rd party dlc, the first 3 on the list total close to $100 US !!!
Steve Pontin says the Corris route (which I already have) will address some of this but when I tried running a Fairlie scenario most of the scenery was missing.
Am I missing something here ?

Run the route through RWTools and see what comes up as missing, then compare the missing assets to the DLC you have purchased.Rustyhingepin179 wrote:Ok so as an avid Ffestiniog fan from family vacations in the 70s and 80s I have downloaded this.

Don't forget that assets still packed in their .ap files will show as missing, so you need to be aware of what you actually have rather than what appears to be missing.
Re the $100 US, there are regular sales of the various routes and you rarely have to wait more than a few months to fill in the missing DLC. The route is well worth waiting for the sales and RWTools will point to what you need.
Another thought, how high do you have the Scenery Density tab in settings? If mid to low you may be missing assets as a result.

Re: Jolly Good Fun ... Narrow Gauge rails in North Wales
Hi Rod,
Thanks for your input, I reinstalled the FR files and checked settings, as that seemed to be the most logical first step (easiest!).
That made no difference with the scenery maxed.
Looing in more detail at the results on starting a scenario I got a consist error for missing stock Cl158 i think the tiny writing said!
Also the basic ground textures are missing I just get a white ground with the grid pattern on it.
So... I looked at RW tools, and I'm rather apprehensive about that, it seems it could make changes that I might not be able to fix or update. I did notice a line in the info regarding "experienced users" which I would say I am not!
I can see what you mean about the route, and to be honest like I said having ridden extensively on the railway since the days of the Dduallt teminus with the refreshment carriage parked there all the way through to the final arrival at Blaenau Ffestiniog, it was this product that got me into TS in the first place so definately new to this.
