Ooo! Forgot to mention that I've now got all the requirements and that this route really is incredible! I can honestly say it is one of the best pieces of freeware available at the moment.

The Regional Rail 158 would have appeared at the Porthmadog end being repainted in to Central Trains and later ATW.
As Northern never operated that section there is no need for a Northern Livery

But a 158 at Blaenau is totally wrong as the units are not permitted to work there
The mainstay in BR Days was the 101 - when they retired the 153 became the staple diet in FNW days and in to ATW - although other units appeared.
Now days it's normally a 150/2

Do you want it to be accurate?
If not just use the Kuju 166 in FGW at both ends as most if not all people will have it

Yes Peter, but that's in real life--I believe the whole idea is to use something that's reasonably representative for the era and area, and as Xavier has sort of confirmed the more appropriate Regional Railways livery is no longer available so an alternative is required. Don't forget that swapping an item is easy if you have something installed that fits the bill better, but there's little to be gained by using stock that many may not have in a release--consider the 101, which released version of the 101 would you choose to use as a base model?

Hi All,

As far as I know, the RREX is still available as a reskin, it just does not come included with the original Settle-Carlisle DLC, so is technically another DLC requirement for that to show properly in the relevant scenarios - and it is of course swappable fairly easily with RWTools. It is a bit of a hassle though, for which I apologise to anyone inconvenienced.

I used the RREX liveried 158 on the grounds that it was the most generic yet plausible stock for both the Conwy Valley and the Cambrian Coast lines, which was my compromise solution to the good question of what would indeed look right...

As previous posts have shown, the two BR lines have always had different populations. Blaenau indeed saw 101's, 153's, and 150's, which are or have been available for TS but would all be extra DLC again (and I never realised that the 158's are not permitted on the branch, you learn something new every day). The 158 is perfectly at home on the Cambrian, just not in FNW colours - hence, again, the use of the RREX livery.

There's probably no real answer to the best solution, I was just pondering the 'next best fit for most people' - which was why I (erroneously) went for the Regional Railways 158. Ultimately, the standard gauge trains are only there to add a bit of background interest whilst driving on the Narrow Gauge anyway, so it's a bit of a digression!

As an aside, an anecdote from my days as a guard: when running into Blaenau with 1992-built DLG on and the old 'C' set - the Carnforth (1990's) and tin car (1970's/1980's) rake that was painted light green in the 1990's - we used to joke about how passengers from Port would soon be getting off the modern railway to join the heritage railway BR class 101 service to carry them on towards Llandudno...

I would think the S9BL Class 158 in Express Livery is best for keeping assets down - it will be one that most people will have and easily swappable to those who wish to do so.

I have downloaded the Route as well as the rolling stock, unable to run any of the included scenarios without having a class 158DMS RREX.
Does anyone know where I can obtain this from.
