Calling Mr. Fixit !!

Post by ka959 »

Would some bright person, out there, please possibly be able to assist me, with a problem I have, currently, with TS2015 ? The problem is, to get TS2015 working again, as I was having a starting problem, to get it running, and I just used the icon ib the normal manner, and the screen appeared, with the jet plane with a white trail behind it, at the top of the screen, which you may know of, saying "Updating scenario database"and it stayed that way for a short peroid of time, THEN SHOULD HAVE changed to "Saving scenario database", which it is as it should be if things are normal, then that's it ! NOTHING else happens, so I have to press CTRL-ALT-DELETE to get my computer back.

Does anyone know of a fix for this, please. I have Windows 7 Professional, with 8 Gigabytes of RAM, and four HDDs. Thanks if you are able to help.

Regards...

You could have a corrupt scenario database Jim, so use Windows Explorer to navigate to ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Content and CUT the SDBCache.bin and SDBCache.bin.MD5 files out of there, pasting them somewhere safe so you can easily put them back if it turns out not to fix things. Hopefully the game will now fire up and rebuild the database.

Can you remember what you did immediately before it starting acting up?

Hi Jim,
First follow gptech advice above he has much more experience than me, I would just like to ask is it Just In TS 2015 that you get this PC freeze or have you noticed it in any other programs that you use.

I had a similar problem with my desktop and Windows Explorer freezing and it turned out to be some malware in my Windows register.

Important Jim, follow gptech advice first.

Regards,
Pete.

I'm flattered

if truth be known all I did was re-post the findings of *messing with things* that the forum members as a group discovered, so EVERYBODY deserves praise.

Good to hear it's sorted JIm, at least this issue was one of those with a relatively simple fix. Might I suggest that when you read anything that could be useful, you copy the message into a .txt file for future reference?----it's something that's worked very well for me over the years.

Gary, (or should I call you Mr Fixit.)
A good idea to save any posts that you think may be of use in the future, I have made a start already.

Pete.
