Re: GEML Manningtree-Harwich Upgrade JT
Well, I thought I'll get this and see what they've done with it, but, there doesn't seem to have been much QA, before release. After going through my Content folder for my GEML I noticed that JT have input 148 bak files, amongst various folders much to my annoyance. I then went into the route build and thought I'll do a quick free roam session to see what the line is like, AND, no route markers, so, I had to start from Manningtree, rather than the Harwich end.
Having now done a quick drive, it looks very nice, the mudflats along with the estuary look quite smart with the flotilla of small boats, the stations look well built, signalling is fine, treelined straights very acceptable for this rural location, superelevation was noticeable and the refinery and large-ish yard look OK. I don't think they've used DEM or google street view though as there is a lot missing around Harwich International and it doesn't fully resemble what you can see now in 2015, it doesn't reflect the scene at Harwich Town either and someone has put a fence right across the walkway just before you get to the platform, which is not there in real life according to Google SV, so, a bit of sorting out requires doing to get it ship shape at the Docks, if you'll pardon the pun, but, for the few quid I obtained it for, it'll give me something to do at night for the next couple of weeks.

Has anyone else found that if you select QuickDrive Harwich Town to Maningtree the front cab of your train is facing the buffers, not in the direction of travel?
Must have forgotten the marker was the wrong way round.
Oh well, went into the editor and fixed it.

I think some of the bak files are there in case you uninstall the upgrade and these revert back to the original bin files.

Great little addon, played the first two scenarios in the dark but then decided to play the 153 Ipswich to Harwich Intl one, like it.

Re: GEML Manningtree-Harwich Upgrade JT
Don't know the area and I have avoided Streetview and Google Earth on purpose - so without first hand knowledge of the route how does it feel, look and perform? - pretty well I would say. I really like the original route and this just adds value.
I understand that there are certain aspects not right for those with local knowledge, but as with the original, when you drive the route it feels like a real railway - enough going on, on and around the track, to make it feel busy - enough of interest in the distance to make you want to leave the track to have a look.
A fair number of scenarios too - with a good range of stock to use. Haven't set anything up for myself yet, but enough to keep interest going for the moment.
I have the Mayflower Line and Crouch Valley 3 - both excellent in their own way but I don't think any of the 3 take away from each other - all good and all worth having, freeware and payware.
Happy chap off for another late afternoon drive

Yes, you're quite correct, apparently, it does tell you it's backing up when you first click the install button, but, I was on my way to the kitchen to put the kettle on, so, I missed that bit.......peb52 wrote:I think some of the bak files are there in case you uninstall the upgrade and these revert back to the original bin files.

Re: GEML Manningtree-Harwich Upgrade JT
It`s a very nice track, an good Performance. But the Quick Drive Game, there is no AI-Traffic. I can not end the Scenario IS S 10, there is in Ipswich red light, because the track is not enabled.

Re: GEML Manningtree-Harwich Upgrade JT
Hmm, well, I ran the route the other way last night, so, I've just done the reverse working and my game coughed and spluttered a bit round that curve when you get to the oil refinery, but, I have 16GB RAM, so, maybe that helped me in not CTD, but, it was a cause for concern.

Re: GEML Manningtree-Harwich Upgrade JT
I had splutters at the same point on two different scenarios. First time in I don't know how long on any route. 8 Gig of Ram but I didn't think it was going to fall over - seemed like loading problems looking back away from the refinery on my rig.TransportSteve wrote:Hmm, well, I ran the route the other way last night, so, I've just done the reverse working and my game coughed and spluttered a bit round that curve when you get to the oil refinery, but, I have 16GB RAM, so, maybe that helped me in not CTD, but, it was a cause for concern.

Re: GEML Manningtree-Harwich Upgrade JT
Forgive me if this has already been asked or if in fact it is a silly question, but does this upgrade install in to existing installed route folder? as I was expecting to find it listed separately as "Mayflower Line GEML upgrade " or something similar within TS2015 or RWTools, which it does not. Could someone please enlighten me, Thanks.
