Re: dem issues.

I have been using the DEM data over the last couple of weeks and all has been working fine for me/seems correct to me - both on a coastal and inland route.

I did experience a short phase of it not working however, when all terrain appeared to be flat and consequent overlays were dark. This was because I had entered the lat long incorrectly and therefore I was out somewhere on Dogger Bank  .

The moral of this is that I was not doing it correctly and therefore getting poor/wrong results. I would double and treble check the process you are following and/or the data being entered/used.

Richard

Hi Richard,
I have checked the files and they are all hgt files I have checked the location of the folders in the steamapps folder. And then checked that the folders appear on import in game also i have checked that the kuju files and rail simulator files are imported and checked the co ordinates several times ensuring the co ordinates are correct. Especially after hearing rumors about the latitude and longitude are swapped round etc. But just having no joy. Just a frozen screen for a second and then a refreshed ground and no change in terrain. But thank you for the help

It works fine for me too, but i will say the week before last it would not work i kept trying to raise the ground in one area no joy then tried again after a week or so and now in the same spot all is fine, so maybe there is an issue with the last update??

Strangely I haven't played with ts2015 online so I haven't updated as of yet. But I have just finished updating and tried again and once again still no joy. I think I may have to look into trying the terrain editing by eye once the track is down and editing terrain and finishing with the scenery. I can't think of anything else I can try now haha

Hi Anthony

I dug a bit further into my route and for some reason the origin has changed, it is now somewhere in the irish sea. I dont know why that happened. it worked fine for the first year. i tried it with a new route with a correct origin and i got the data to come in okay.

I now have the fun of trying to pull the origin back to the right place knowing it is not going to be 100% correct and therefore the import DEM data wont line up with what is there. The joy of train simulator, i spend more of my time sorting this sort of stuff rather than route building.

hi anthony i read online somewhere that the co ordinates reset to 0 instead of the area im building,

the co ordinates are below.

lat - 50.621863
lon - -3.414008

im going to look into checking the area co ordinates and ensure it is working in the correct place and not somewhere in skegness haha.
i shall certainly be thankful when i one day get this working.
