AP Soundpacks

Post by atlasduff47 »

Hello Drivers,

I trust that you have all had a busy Easter period, and managed to get your hands on a few goodies at bargain prices!

One of the items I acquired was the Railright/AP Class 40 and have to say that for me, it is the finest loco produced to date. Every aspect of it is spot on including the sounds, which got me thinking....................What loco would you next like to see produced to a similar standard? Alternatively which current locos do you feel are crying out for the AP soundpack treatment?

I would like to see a class 25 produced to a similar spec to the RR Class 40, well that or a 47

As for soundpacks, three spring to mind, Classes 56, 45 and a baby sulzer!

56 for me, by far my favourite loco but the sounds are not good enough also the physics could do with an overhaul too.

I'd love to see a 25 covered to the same level. Also a 45, 86 and 87. The fact they're all my favourite locos has nothing to do with it, of course.

There's already a pro soundset for the 86-87 locos at AP. :)

I know (I own the lot). I meant I'd like to see them produced as locos to the same standard as the 40.

A good quality class 25 is a glaring hole in the fleet at the moment.

There have been versions of this over the years but nothing that is top spec. The RSC class 27 is a good model and has a reasonably good cab but the sounds... the only word suitable is catastrophic.

We could also do with a new class 47. The model on the current RSC version is good, supported by great sounds from AP but the cab is the let-down. It's the same cab from 2007 Rail Simulator. 8 years old now and looking it. Same goes for the Deltic whose cab is also abysmal.

To be honest, the AP class 40 raises the bar to such a new and high level that there is now a pretty strong case to overhaul/reproduce every single loco in the sim to the same standard...

Regardless of whether or not I already own a class 27, 31, 33, 37, 47, 55, 56 etc I would willingly pay again if they could be reproduced to the same standard as the AP class 40.

The cab in particular on the AP 40 is exquisite, a masterpiece in realism, fine texturing and feature rich.

Either the D600 or D800 version. A D600 would be top of my all-time wish-list (see avatar) and one of the few diesels never yet made for TS20xx, but I guess that's beyond hope... :(

I'd pay good money to have someone build one of those!

I wondered if anyone would be so bold!

I think you have a very valid point, I dare say that there are quite a few people that will agree with you, myself included. The question I suppose would be, would it be preferable to fill the gaps which are left in the stock list eg Warship as Ash suggests, or re-visit the most tired locos and overhaul them first, with a view to bringing up all existing models to the standard of the new class 40?

But would that translate into a sound business case though, depending on who the developer was?.

The Class 40 does take some getting used to and as good as it is, there are some users who do prefer/need just simple, less advanced DLC to get enjoyment from TS. I do suspect that those of us who do like the more complicated, 'niche' stuff are wholly in the minority beyond the pages of this forum, especially in terms of the market overall. I know many don't like the thought of that, but c'est la vie as they say,

I couldn't agree more with everything you've just said.
