Re: CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' from DTG
Thank you. Maybe I've got the Engine Driver's equivalent of 'lead in the boots'.... heavy on the throttle
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it

Re: CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' from DTG
A quick test between JT's 'Advance' and DTG's one.
York - Darlington Quickdrive on Darren Porter's ECML route http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/routes.html
44 miles
DTG 220 - Starting fuel : 450gals, fuel at Darlington : 398gals (-52)
JT 220 - Starting fuel : 800gals, fuel at Darlington : 785gals (-15)
I found the overall performance of both to be comparable (about 24 minutes to Darlington) although DTG's 220 accelerates quicker and JT's 220 takes longer to stop (115mph, started braking 2 miles out from Darlington and went through the end of the platform at 30mph to cause a SPAD. I felt like Homer in The Simpson's Monorail episode and looking for an anchor and a piece of rope)
I also found that to keep DTG's model at 124 mph, you seemed to need 15 - 20% more throttle than JT's version.
I am going to try both on a slower route where I'm accelerating and braking for speed limits and gradients. That should give me a good spectrum of performance and fuel usage.

Re: CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' from DTG
Here goes
Second test using my Workshop route.
Barrow to Carnforth non stop. 29 miles, max speed 60mph with steep gradients and speed changes. Both units took about 36 minutes, give or take 30 seconds
DTG - 37 gals used
JT - 11 gals used
Using both of the tests together (73 miles) fuel used
DTG - 89 gals (0.8mpg or 1.22gpm)
JT - 26 gals (2.6mpg or 0.35gpm)
This would mean that on a full tank
DTG (450 gals) - 360 mile
JT (800 gals) - 2240 mile
Fuel needed to cover the 773 mile from Aberdeen to Penzance
DTG - 943 gals
JT - 270 gals
I'm not saying one is right and one is wrong because I don't know. It's only an observational comparison. The results don't make any difference 'in game' anyway and I only did it because I was bored.

I'm thinking that just like the number of brake disc screws, neither are correct (reference the brake discs, JT have 4 screws per wheel, DTG 12 screws per wheel and all photos show 8 ).pjt1974 wrote:Here goes

I wonder if there is a minor error with the Dovetail one regarding either correct fuel capacity or usage. 360 miles x 4 = 1440 miles which is close to the quoted range of 1350 miles by Bombardier. So it could be either the vehicles are using the fuel correctly but only have 1 vehicles worth of fuel (450gal for 4 vehicles seems low) or that we are getting 4 vehicles of fuel usage per vehicle? Who knows? I guess this is the problem with motorised vehicles throughout but a look in the config files may help (fuel usage may be in script however).

Is anyone here likely to take up the challenge and tweak the grey poorly coloured wheels please?.... pretty please?

I'm quite impressed with the extent and speed of that hotfix. They even darkened the wheels.

Re: CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' from DTG
I have done a repaint into Virgin livery and as I have not posted a repaint on here previously I'm looking for someone to try it out for me. I've also redone the wheels so the brake discs now have the correct number of fasteners. If anyone is prepared to try it out then feel free to PM me and I'll send a copy.
Please note I only intend sending out a couple of test copies so if you don't get a reply to the PM then obviously you were not quick enough!

Re: CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' from DTG
I purchased the 220 yesterday and it has downloaded as I can see its folders within the Railworks folders.
However, something I feel is not working quite as it should. Once its downloaded and apparently steam says its installed I am not able to locate the engine in the routes list. The scenarios I believe for the 220 are for the Riveria route.
I have browsed the folders structure C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\Class220Pack01\
There was just a .ap file listed all on its own so I extracted the files and folders using 7zip so that the folder now contains
/Audio
/PreLoad
/RailVehicles
/_.sbn
/_.sbn.MD5
/Class220Pack01Assets.ap
/de.lan
/en.lan
/fr.lan
I also have the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes\00000042-0000-0000-0000-000000002014\RivieraLineClass220Pack01Scenarios.ap , that's clearly the scenarios for that loco but I am not sure as to where they should be extracted to please.
Could anyone advise the correct location I don't want to just take a random guess and screw things up. Its frustrating having to go around hunting for files and having to do everything manually.

Nowhere.
There's no need to extract the files from within a .ap archive in order to use them in game; you'd only extract files for editing or in the case of stock for copying .GeoPcDx files for reskins.
The loco files you've extracted can be safely deleted, the game reads the contents of .ap archives as if they were already extracted.
The blurb on RSC's store page states:
which will probably all be career scenarios----have you looked under the career tab?Three scenarios for The Riviera Line:Exeter-Paignton route:
Back on the Rails
Troublesome Voyager
Voyager of the Rails
Re: CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' from DTG
Yes checked the Career menu none of those are listed.

Cleared the cache?

I will try that yet again right now.
