Scenarios for WCML London & Midlands

Post by cerbere22 »

Hi all,

I've spent the last few days on the magnificent Chiltern route from photons66 (I just hope there will be a speed board fix one day), and I recently downloaded his previous route, WCML London & Midlands. It's also great, but do you know if there is scenarios for it apart from those included and the QD ?
Thanks ! :)

Cerberus,

UKTS 32174 is the only one I'm aware of. The author of that (Ian Sterrett) suggests in his accompanying notes that he's working on others - but I've seen none.

KInd regards,

I did try to start one using a Class 90 on the Euston - Crewe, unfortunately I cannot make any scenarios for it as the sim just locks up each time. I can play the free roams but that's all. I know a few others have posted on here saying they can't create one as it locks up, it's hit and miss as to who's sim lock's up and who's doesn't.

Sorry to dig this up from a months ago.

The only way I've been able to get into the scenario editor for this route is by applying the patch and deleting the supplied scenarios with this route. I'm going to try and work on some quick drive scenarios tomorrow.

In answer to the WCML London to Birmingham scenarios, I am a bit stumped at the moment - scratching my hair and gnashing my teeth! The route is brilliant, but I keep finding broken paths which means the scenarios fail with the the "Off Path" message.

I am still trying to cobble a nice scenario together! Be patient with me please - and if somebody could convert the manual pointwork to automatic, that would make scenarios so much easier!

I think a few UKTS members were attempting to change some of the tracks and pointwork about a year ago when the route first came out but I've heard nothing for some time unless I've missed something.

deltic009 made a start on sorting the pointwork out, but lost the lot following a hard drive failure and never picked it back up. A shame, but I can't say I blame him, as it's one heck of a job!!

Unless I've missed some, I think those are all for WCML North, i.e. the DTG DLC.

I tried to create a few scenarios not long after the route came out but, for one reason and another, haven't got round to finishing them off. The thing that frustrated me a little was having signals showing red at various places (Willesden and Watford, I seem to recall) for no reason, i.e. the blocks ahead were not occupied, and TAB-bing didn't always seem to work. So the player train kept losing time for no real reason.

Other than that, I haven't experienced some of the lock-ups that I know others encountered, either on the original or with the modifications. It's a route with great potential, if one has the time to get to grips with its foibles. And definitely worth persevering with making scenarios.

A huge thanks to Ian Sterrett who made a new Tracks.bin replacing manual points with automatic ones.
I hope this will help the scenario creation process !

I've just run the original Euston to Wolverhampton (2013) scenario using Ian Sterret's Tracks.bin. Thanks, Ian! The revised pointwork behaved impeccably. However...

... just before Proof House Junction, signal BM787 showed green although the points were switched against me a little way ahead. I recommend stopping here to check the route into New Street Platform 4b. I saw two trains pass eastbound out of New Street on 'my' line to 4b before the points switched in my favour. Thereafter, the only problem was an AI collision just as I slowed to a halt in Platform 4b. Gnash!

Does anyone know how to fix this (presumably by eliminating an AI train)?

Kind regards,

John M
