Hello all,
I have been trying to delete a building from a route to replace it with a more accurate looking one. The route in question is the Workshop Par - Penzance and I'm trying to adapt Long Rock Depot. There is a long red brick engine shed which I simply can't seem to delete as it doesn't seem to be a normal building. The two ends are deletable, but not the main shed itself. Does anyone now how I remove this? Is it something to do with stretching along the track almost like a fence?

Re: Removing a Building
It really depends on the asset. If you are confident moving about things about in the assets folders etc, you can try decompressing the .bin file associated with the blueprint for the Asset in question using serz. Then see if it has a field, I think it's called "Clickable" or "Selectable" (I'm in the office at the moment, obviously working very hard, so can't check). It's likely set to false so you can't highlight it to delete it in the first place.
One way round it is to do something like this:
- Decompress the .bin file as above to get the XML
- Make a copy of the original .bin file
- Change the field I mentioned to true
- Recompress it using serz again on the XML file
- Go back in to the route and you should be able to highlight and remove the asset
- Take the copy you made of the original and copy it back again to set it back to its original state.
If none of this makes much sense then you're probably better off leaving it alone though.
Cheers
Iain

Re: Removing a Building
Sounds like its a loft, (especially if the ends are separate) I cant remember but do you need to be on the track edit icon to delete lofts?

Re: Removing a Building
The selectable part of a loft usually seems to run along the bottom middle, not always though. It may be hidden underground or covered by something else. Have a good root around underneath and see if you can find the tell-tale selectable strip. And yes, do check you are in 'rail track' mode. You might even have to move other things out of the way.
Quietly beavering away on something and finally getting somewhere
Re: Removing a Building
Lofts can indeed be a pain to remove. What I tend to do is select the gradient icon, then click the gradient arrow for the loft and raise it up high above the ground . Then I usually find that it's much easier to highlight and delete.

Or, click and drag on the ground to draw a circle around the object. This action selects everything within. You can often select an otherwise unselectable object using this method.
Re: Removing a Building
Have now located the place to select the object (it was underground) and managed to delete the engine shed? Many thanks for your replies.
