Weird issue with London Midland 350 -2 Repaint

Post by ightenhill »

This is the one..

No matter what I do the only way I can get it to move is by using the F4 playskool controls.. It just flatly refuses to use any keyboard input though the mouse operating the controls directly in the cab will work as well

Cleared Cache.. re installed.. Ticked it in the scenario editor (another odd thing when using custom consist creator all the passengers are sat on the roof)

The roof-mounted passengers are going to be a missing child object somewhere, the base model using multiple child objects for the various sounds.

Do you have the AP soundpack for the 450, etc?

No the only sound pack I have for EMUs is the 465/466.. Why do I need it to use the repaint correctly.. As I said it works fine with the HUD and using the mouse its just the keyboard doesnt work with it

Actually Im a bit confused by the description in the dowload as it says I only need Brighton/London but how is this model anything to do with that? Sorry if Im a bit  it also describes it as having a custom panto which seems to be invisible..

I think you need the AP Desiro sound pack for the keyboard commands to work with both the London Midland and the Trans Pennine 350 models from Richard Fletcher (via DP Simulation), I don't have the soundpacks so currently have the same issue, I am waiting for AP to have a sale before getting the soundpack so I can use these models with the keyboard. The 450 model this skin is based on is the 450 than came as an AI only version with London to Brighton which is why that item is required.

That is correct, if this is my reskin then you need to have the AP 360/444/450 sound pack installed. As this installs a bespoke input mapper then I suspect it is this that is the cause.

I certainly haven't installed the soundpack, yet the BML 450 and any repaints based on it work perfectly for me--HUD, mouse, keyboard and any combination of.

You need BML because the reskin is based upon the 450 included with BML (if you have Guildford and District (aka Portsmouth direct) the reskin will port over to that easily enough, just needs a few lines in the .bin files editing to point to the different asset directory)
The custom panto would only be invisible if you haven't installed it correctly or possibly if you don't have DPS ticked in the Provider/Product list. I'm pretty sure Richard and/or Darren will have supplied a comprehensive set of instructions so give them another good read through.
As you have an issue with the panto it suggests that you also may have an *error* in the installation of the reskin rather than an issue with the control mechanism so get the panto showing and try it again.

I don't know how Richards set the .bin files up, but in theory you should be able to call for a panto.bin from the DMOS .bin file, with the panto.bin pointing to the DPS asset folder. Certainly in Standard scenarios this negates the need for the *extra* P/P box ticking, but I've no idea if this follows through to QD scenarios.

As one of us (well, me) has an installation of the BML 450, and reskins of, that don't need the AP soundpack it's more a case of a 'muddied' situation than a solved one surely?
Are you running the game with expert or simple controls selected in the options menu?

EDIT:
k2rover has a similar "non-functioning keyboard controls" issue with the class 47, perhaps the two are related? (http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... ace4b73a55)

Do I need to reinstall the soundpack to get the sounds working with the Class 350? I ran one of the DPS scenarios last night where you drive the 350 and I'm not sure it was using new sounds, e.g. the horn sounded using the spacebar, not space then B.

I reinstalled the soundpack and it updated the sounds on the 350.
