AI Train to/from a location

Post by generalmotors228 »

OK just reading through various tutorials before I start my first attempt at a scenario, but I'd like to know how to get a train to go from A to B and back to A.

I'll use GEML as an example, I want an AI to start at say LLS Platform 13 and run to Shenfield stopping at all stations on the down slow, at Shenfield wait say 10 minutes and then return to LLS Platform 14 serving all stations on the up line.

I don't think there's a logical reason why this wouldn't work, although I can't see why you'd want to do a return journey with an AI train. Fundamentally, you need to make the AI train run to a timetable. In the Stop At instruction control panel you'll find a tick-box next to an alarm clock icon. Tick that and you can control the arrival and departure times for each stop.

So would I need the start and destinations to be at the same location but rather than geting the train just to shunt out and back how do I set ut to go via B?

Other question is when the AI reverses will the head/tail lights automatically change or will you see reds approaching you on the return etc?

Give your Down AI train a Pick up Pass; instruction at each station after LLS 13 up to and including Shenfield. As Keith said above, make your dwell time at Shenfield 10 mins then just reverse the pick up instructions for the up journey as far as LLS 14. Then give the final dest; as LLS 14.
What you have to decide however, is which platform to use at Shenfield on the down journey. A down or an up one. There must be crossovers available to get you from the down slow lines to the up slows for the return trip.
As to the train lights, they should alter to the correct configuration for the direction of travel.

Hope this helps.
