Re: Patch will be Wed 12th
So. Got the patch. Game loads fine.
Still got the white distant hills issue on older routes such as WCML-N that appeared with the upgrade.
Am I missing something here?

Don't think that is one of the issues the patch was addressing.

Re: Patch will be Wed 12th
So.
The one issue I had with the upgrade.
The one issue that made dozens of my routes visually unplayable in anything other than thick fog.
The one issue that effectively flushes a grands worth of game down the pan.
The one issue that has me on the verge of being past caring with the whole thing.
That's the issue the patch isn't addressing?
Great.

Isn't there a patch/fix in the file library for this?1S811985 wrote:That's the issue the patch isn't addressing?
I know you shouldn't have to apply a 3rd party mod to solve this but in meantime perhaps, this might tide you over until such time, if/when, DG issue a patch for this?

Re: Patch will be Wed 12th
Thanks, I'll look into that when I get some time but I'm not inclined toward modding the game much TBH.
You say "if/when DTH issue a patch for this".
If? You mean there's doubt?

PS I'm not knocking community fix's here, to be clear, it's just that I'm pretty much an average user with no inclination for fiddling around in the bowels of the programme.

No need to unregister the beta as the patch is the beta, so you are gaining no advantage by doing so. I started TS today and got no update as I already had in the form of the beta.windberg wrote:Everyone with the beta must unregister the beta version. After that steam loads the patch (266MB).

Trev123,
Of course if you stick with the beta you won't get the update. The latest update is not for the beta version.
I would think that sticking with the beta is NOT a good idea. Presumably if you do you will get no further updates.

Re: Patch will be Wed 12th
I have a problem. (No, not that one!) I appear to have some data sets that can handle the introduction of the 48.9a patch, and some that can't.
I did wonder whether loading the IOW Metro v1.1 route this morning might be the cause, but I think I've eliminated that.
With regard to the IOW Metro possibility, Gary wrote:
Background: I have seven Assets/Content combinations, a 'default' RSC/DTG/Steam set, plus one each for England, Wales/Scotland/Ireland, Europe North, Europe South, the Americas, and the Rest of the World.
Yesterday I was using the England set. All was well. I downloaded and installed the first version of IOW Metro, and ran a free roam. No problems. I installed Darren Porter's scenario sets 3, 9 & 10. No problems. I ran a scenario from Darren's scenario set 8 - found I was short of a Departmental 37, installed it, ran the scenario. No problems. And numerous restarts of RW/TS were necessary as this continued.
This morning, I installed the revised version of the IOW Metro route. TS2015 then refused to start, giving me an endlessly rotating blue circle on a black screen. Use of Windows Task Manager showed file dump (to 48.9a) message. Interesting because I hadn't installed the Beta. Tried to run TS2015 again; same result. I swapped 'England' data out; I swapped the default set in. Initially the same result when I tried to run TS2015. Then I noticed an unannounced download, so I sat back and waited. Then, for good measure, I ran a Local Verify on this default data set. 5,5xx files were found to be 'missing' and were downloaded. Thereafter, using the default set, TS2015 loaded and ran normally.
I went back to the 'England' set. It behaved as before. Then I tried my 'Europe North' set. TS2015 loaded and ran without any problem (and without any Verification). And at this point I'm beginning to wonder whether ChrisOnLine (see earlier post) had been right all along... So I restored an 'England' set from 6 days ago; TS2015 failed while loading, again - although this same set, marginally incremented, had behaved just fine just a day ago. So the problem's nothing to do with any Assets or Content installed but not run pre-patch. I am now restoring an 'England' set from September (ie last pre-TS2015 data set) to see how that behaves...
I absolutely take Gary's point that
I'd be grateful for any thoughts any of you may have. It's worth saying that my 'England' data set is large: the Assets file is 169GB, the Content file is 26 GB, and 230 Routes are included. Has the patch reduced some key limit? What other characteristics of several different data sets, all previously acceptable to TS2015, could cause TS2015 to fail even before the first white (DTG logo) screen?

Which should make my experience here impossible.Assets and contents aren't being revised though, the core of the game is the patched part so no matter what combination of assets and contents you use you'll get the same result.

Re: Patch will be Wed 12th
OK, so bit the bullet and decided to load the patch!
1) Went on to Steam and opened my account - No signs of any download after 15 minutes?
2) Tried to remove the v48.9a patch - No response?
3) Did a complete 'fresh' verify to a new Railworks folder and when completed v48.9a was provided - how do i know that I have the latest patch?
Asked these questions on the DTG/RSC Facebook page without any response after several hours.
MTIA for any information.

I unregistered the beta and closed the menu. The TS2015 text behind the symbol in my library changed from beta to normal and the patch loaded immediatly.
I am shure the size of the patch was bigger than the beta.

Yes, IIRC the beta was around 34MB and the new patch was about 266MB.windberg wrote:I unregistered the beta and closed the menu. The TS2015 text behind the symbol in my library changed from beta to normal and the patch loaded immediatly.

I wasn't on the beta and the download yesterday that updated my copy to v48.9a was about 39MB.

OK, sounds like maybe it was the de-install of the beta that forced the bigger update then! (The system was up to date just prior to the de-install, so there shouldn't have been any more updates "sneaking their way in" at the same time...)AndyUK wrote:I wasn't on the beta and the download yesterday that updated my copy to v48.9a was about 39MB.
