Hi John

Route building and landscaping is about 75% complete, still need to do signalling and scenarios. Had some technical issues as screen shot below shows which has slowed me down as well as things in the real world:
Track rule has seemed to have disapeared and all my speed limit signs have reset to zero, where there is a change of speed its showing up as 950 as you can see. Tried to sort it out using RWTools and seaching on forums but no success at moment. Will post a help on the main forum. Also google maps has stopped working since 2015 has come in which has significantly slowed me down.

Anyway here are a few more screenshots of further work in progress.

Looks an absolute cracker
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Hi Guys
Another Update. Route building is very nearly complete. 14 miles of route complete with the climb out of glencoe just needing some further folliage in places. Have started extending the line but that will be for another later version if people enjoy the route. I still have to do signalling, sounds, line speeds and sort out a lot of errors that have seemed to have crept in like loss of seasons and track rule. This might take a while to solve.

i was messing around with some of the weather types ready to make scenarios and i am quite pleased with some of the murky cloud formations. It looks quite realistically scottish.

Here are some screen shots of the Royal Scot leaving Ballachuillish and heading towards Glasgow in typical Scottish gloaming and coming out into sun on Rannoch Moor. Will post some twilight screenshots later in the week.

You can kind of tell why this railway was never built!!!!!!
Just one comment though.
The grass on the side of the hills and in the valley (looks like the gravel track grass) it kind of gives me the impression of Africa or North America for some reason.
Excellent work all the same

thanks for the generous comments. Obviously the screenshots are my best artistic endeavours so do not show any warts.

JohnM1945 well what i do not want to do is keep on adding to it and never releasing it. I have already been at it 2 years and its been one hell of a steep learning curve to learn how to use the editor from scratch. i am pretty slick at it now but i did not do much of value in the first year. I have never wrote a scenario and do not know how to do signalling so I might issue a beta with a lot of free drives and at least people can have a go. I have laid the track and an bridge across loch leven to the north side but there is a lot of work to build the scenery for another 4 miles northwards so that will be issued later. It adds a bit of variety to the mountain climb.

pjt74, the only reason it was not built was because the Caledonian blocked it in parliament. The route plans are in the Scottish archive somewhere. would love to see what was actually proposed. Appreciate the comments on the textures, i want to try and keep a tight limit on the payware and keep it freeware so I am only using a limited number of assets so some compromise has to be made.

i was looking for issues with running the route at night, seeing if the lighting looked ok. Here is a few shots of a sleeper train heading south. The 37 is a DP Simulation reskin of the old pre 2012 Class 37 and the sleeper Mrk 3's are from WCML over Shap.

Plus a couple of other misc shots
Black 5 railtour, even double headed they seem to struggle with the 1:45 or maybe i just do not know how to drive a steam train.

Hi guys. Please to announce i have uploaded v1.0 to the http://members.uktrainsim.com//filelib- ... leid=34498 website. Note i have released it as a beta, as this is my first attempt i am sure it is riven with schoolboy errors and there have been other problems i have been unable to rectify.
I want to issue the route in stages as i am trying to avoid always pushing the release date back as there is always things to do. The route uses nearly all freeware assets.

The route stands at 14 miles between Ballachuillish and Kingshouse with a halt at Glencoe village. Its quickdrive compatible with freedrive scenarios using the frreware packs rolling stock. I will extend the line further and release it in stages.if you download it refer to the route guide pdf in the trainsimulator documentation directory.

The following are known issues (well on my computer at least). Seasons seem stuck in summer. Track rule jumps to 5mph at one spot. Adding new track seems to defaulto mainline with no associated track rule no matter what track type i select. Manual junction in main line at kingshouse station. Using dynamic clouds the far hills become GREEN. I any help on rectifying any issues or highlting other improvements is welcome.

Will post more screenshots next week incl future extensions

Enjoy

This route looks very interesting,I will definitely have a go at down loading it,all I can remember of staying in Glencoe, was camping there and ended up getting soaking wet and then have to sleep in the car.

Hi,
Just had a run along the route from Ballacullish to Kinghouse,I found it really good, but carrying on to the end of the route at one place some track was missing and also some other places the track was buried beneath the grass,I'm not knocking the route,as it quite possibly could be my computer.

Oh the first free roam using a class 47 and 3 coaches the loco is at the buffer stop end of the train,so can't move off.

I can well recommend the route it really gives the oppressive feel Glencoe, you certainly feel hemmed in by the mountains, well done and look forward to adding the other parts of the route when you upload them,it will be a cracking route when finnished.
Thanks for making it.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the feedback, was any track missing between Ballachuillish and Kingshouse and do you know exaxtly where on the route that was? I do have a stray track rule just after the balloon loop that i cannot get rid of. If you go beyond Kingshouse the track goes on for about 8 miles but its not finished and i know there are broken sections of track as i havent finalised the alignment yet.

I will change the 47 on the first freeroam. Thanks for the feedback.

I am a big fan of fictional routes. It shows imagination and flare. And there have been over the years some very nice fictional routes built by well established route builders. Without the fictional routes I think it would become boring keep up the good work.
