iPad controlling TS2015
Apologies if this has already been mentioned, I searched but couldn't find anything.
So I stumbled across something on Steam, a picture of a keyboard on an iPad. I downloaded the App (Air Keyboard) and many thanks to http://steamcommunity.com/id/TallenAtear for providing a Train Simulator controller on the iPad.
I've got mine set up on my Retina iPad Mini and wow, I'm so impressed. Whilst I don't have the space for Raildriver, I do have space for my iPad and will definitely now be using this to control TS2015! Also, it seems that all locos work with this....

Now I like the look of that!
Getting the app is obviously straight forward, but what's the process for getting the TS customisation?
Is it a case of getting in touch with the Steam user you mention?
Thanks,
Oliver

Re: iPad controlling TS2015
TS customisation is available through the Air Keyboard Library. Open up the app, click on design layouts, click the plus sign beside design layouts and then download from library. You will need to scroll through the library until you find Train Simulator keyboard. Click that and then it'll install it.OliRC wrote:Now I like the look of that!

Re: iPad controlling TS2015
How do you interface between the iPad and TS2015?
I presume some IR Interface and does it work on any setup or only special versions?
And which App is it?
Opened up the App store and there are a few but none get any good reviews and one just changes things on you computer.
Thanks

It's done over Wifi, you install an app onto your pc and it connects through that.749006 wrote:How do you interface between the iPad and TS2015?

That's an app that I would never have looked twice at, not realising what extra functionality it had. Looking through the extra layouts, it looks like there's some really handy stuff in there.
Big thanks!

Re: iPad controlling TS2015
Well I've been trying this out, and it works really well.
There are quite a few buttons that I'll not really use, and others that I would like to see on there, especially for something like cruise control on the Class 390, as an example off the top of my head.
So just looking into designing your own layout, and it turns out it's very easy to do, within the app. So you can design different templates for different trains. And then it's easy to upload them for others to use.
Oh, the possibilities.....

Re: iPad controlling TS2015
Looks cool!
Two drawbacks however in my opinion, 1st you need the paid version so you cannot first try out how well it suits you.
2nd there doesn't appear to be a way to have actual handles that you pull up or down for steam reverser, regulator, brakes etc etc.
Quite understandable within the limits of a keyboard customizer and what TS201X can support, but still a pity!
Cheers,
--Tim

Re: iPad controlling TS2015
Now this looks good ! You could customise a layout for each loco ... it also looks like it could have a use in my other field of interest, as a playout system keyboard in a radio studio
Nice find OP !

Just working on some alternative layouts for this app, a generic one made so far ... gets more complex with AP's stock releases
